boys planet 999 and i-land s2 (girl ver) slated for 2023: survival show revival or more flops incoming?

while girls planet 999 and i-land both failed to gain the fanfare and mass appeal produce 101 had, the resulting groups have their merits. kep1er's tangible success is a little more debatable, but enhypen is a very successful boy group with a fandom rivaling and surpassing a lot of current top bg fandoms.

as a survival show fan, i am interested to see what new iterations in these series' will bring. while i-land 2 rumors are sparse, it looks like boys planet filming has commenced and they already overhauled the concept:

i don't know what it would take for the gp to be interested in survival shows again other than a participant going viral for one thing or another, but its safe to assume at the bare minimum there is a new generation of young kpop fans that did not experience pd101 and would be interested in this concept as if it were fresh. its really the oldies in the fandom that are tired of survival shows.

I really would wish they could say anything about participants that would be there, just so I would know if there might be some people I know or not, especially also since a pic I saw some months ago had "rumored" participants on it who were all people that can't even join the show lol and so I would like to know if that was even for real or just a stupid joke by the person who had posted it on Twitter back than, because the majority of the shown people was either in way too many survival shows allready or had debuted in a group before (the dumbest 'rumored participants' were names of people who literally won in a survival show and are still in their groups so yikes I guess)

I don't remember too much from the image and IDK how to find it on Twitter again (if it is even still there) but I remember that for whatever reason the person who did this 'rumored participants' picture posted for Korean people many dudes who had been on Produce 101 before or are in groups as like Win of MCND. For Chinese participants the people were either actors or had been on Idol Producer before. And for Japanese people it was mainly dudes who had been on Produce 101 Japan where most make no sense to apear on BP999 because these dudes all debuted in groups by now, especially those who won on Produce

uh... no that is not half of the existing kpop companies out there. there are at least 100 active korean entertainment companies. i also highly doubt any debuted idols will appear. the planet 999 series seems much more focused on trainees. and they scrubbed the importance placed on companies that pd101 had.

anyway its just a rumor just as much as the thing about the lapone boys is a rumor:

nothing is substantiated. but im sure there will be more leaks on participants in the upcoming weeks. the show will 100% be airing Q1.

Fantagio had a group of 8-10 trainees who went to some of Astro's events this year and people were unsure about them having a large group. Makes sense if they're sending some to this... they'd still have a enough to debut as a group if someone ends up in the final lineup since the BP999 group is rumored to be permanent.
