i dunno if sabotage is the word but there are instances where they were treated bad and I am not talking about variety shows.

Till 2018 mid, there achievements were not mentioned much in naver and only scandals were highlighted in first page of naver.

They didnt get their due and that yg magazine even dragged their music while SM had an interview stating they are one of reason for their success, like casual name dropping of bts when it's not needed and kind of negative.

Who gets asked about a plagarism in their own press meet for a different album like when it's not even proved.

One particular media outlet is known for writing negative articles about bts and writes more positive about one particular company.

Recent china issue is also blown out of proportion. Even government officials came out and said there is nothing against bts by govt, yet there was a too much outcry on social media.

No. Idols are only sabotaged by their companies. Let's see what Bighut has in store for bts. Bet it will be about financed or lack of creativity.

My opinions may differ from what some armys have already put up here. Sabotage is to deliberately damage or obstruct something for your advantage. When BTS were nugu, they had unnecessary hate. They were just very much underestimated and most people didn’t really expect them to last long as a group so there wasn’t much said or covered about them in the media. People generally didn’t care about them. Most of the attacks they went through as nugus were majorly from toxic big fandoms. I don’t think companies barely had anything to do with these attacks. If they did I think they would have properly sabotaged them. But as I said they were just very much underestimated and no one saw them coming.

BTS sabotage rather began when they started garnering success, when people and insiders started to see them as a threat. As some armys already said, official media and other kpop insiders started to play dirty. First around 2016-2018, it was more about downplaying BTS achievements even if it were reported so that the public will be kept in the dark and the other big companies can hold onto their ego. But from 2018- onwards when they realized BTS is still doing better than they expected and topping billboard 200, then they changed their methods. Before, they were trying to sabotage them but now they want to own up to BTS success in anyway by inserting themselves here and there and riding on their coattails.

We all know the answer to this. Of the current popular groups/(mostly)relevant groups, there's a reason why this thread can only be made about BTS.

I wonder why other groups didn't follow that example too to become as big as BTS. It's definitely not sabotage but such a a promotion trick.

anyway, its obvious the industry was against bts when they first started blowing up. maybe sabatoge is a strong word, but maybe its not. all i know is it was obvious that there were people, fans and industry insiders alike, that did their best to snuff bts out before they got as big as they are today. even in recent times there are many things companies mediaplay about or do to directly counteract bts and try to make it seem like what they have done is not that special. people have mentioned that the k-media coverage of their grammy nomination seemed sparser than it should ahve been. stuff like that has always happened to them.

They were targeted clear as day, anyone denying it is willfully ignorant.
