Why is Txt doing worse than Stray Kids despite being from Hybe?

  • No hate to either group please. I mean Txt had massive hype at debut as the first group in Hybe following BTS, meanwhile Stray Kids were flopping at first. But Txt is behind Stray Kids in everything now: lower sales, lower Spotify streams, smaller tours, lower Youtube views, even less social media hype. What happened?

    Approved the thread.
  • Their emo concept doesn't have mass appeal like the SKZ concept does

  • txt - only predecessor is bts

skz - big predecessors are wonder girls, rain, twice, 2pm, 2am, miss a, etc.

    Common sense is lacking here

please, being the (only) juniors to the BTS beats out all of those groups... don't even try

txt is doing bad because they don't have IT. they had company support (mediaplaying 4th gen leaders), they have generic/good music - which attracted a lot of casual kpop fans, they had a good part of army - the biggest fandom in kpop, maybe even music in general, industry - being all into the "hybe family support" agenda,... they had it all going for them, but they just didn't fullfil the expectations many had of them because they lack the IT factor. that's not meant as shade, but just facts.

i think their cb in january will be very deciding. if this one underperforms as well, i can see them losing a lot of the relevancy they hold atm.

  • Stray Kids is more talented, more charismatic, has music with more personality.

  • Some groups end up more successful than others and that's how It is. We don't need a big explanation behind. TXT is doing fine, tho.

Pretty sure SKZ got helped alot by their Kingdom performances.

I don't think It helped that much. It was only watched by the fandoms of the contestants, similar to Queendom 2.

  • do you kpop stans have anything to do with your life other than over analysing why x group isnt doing well or why y group flopping? Pls get a life. I hope your parents turn off your internet connection

Honestly, none of their albums previously were underperformed at all. I don’t see what you’re trying to get at here, but that’s clearly not the case. Their albums were well put together, and they were delivered just fine… TXT has done very well in each of their comebacks.

Coming from someone who is both an MOA and Stay, I think the real problem here is that most of the hype and traction that they got at first was because all the people that were fans of BTS were thrilled for their group’s junior to debut, and thus created a lot of hype over such. But as the people that were only there as company and success stans gradually faded away and moved on, things died down. That’s why it seems like they’re not doing so well, when really it’s just a calming down of their debut hype. Now they’re starting to gain fans the who are actually fans because they liked TXT and not just because their predecessors were BTS. In my opinion they’re still in the process of gaining their true fans, they just had a big bang and first then they will start on the normal route of working to gain stans.

For stray kids, they started out as a normal group with no debut hype. They went through the normal group popularity increase trend, unlike TXT. They’ve been out for a couple of years now, and their music is clicking with the public well. It also helps that ODDINARY was extremely popular internationally rather than domestically. TXT is having way more success domestically than stray kids, whose majority of fans are international.

Overall, I believe that they both have rather equal success and popularity, just in different areas, and they also different levels of hype.

Hype is not the same thing as popularity and success.

  • It’s way too early to say this about either group. IMO, both are just getting started and are barely known outside K-Pop, so whoever breaks through that barrier will make the bigger impact.

I believe both groups are being held back from their true potential bc of their label’s management style/gatekeeping.

  • Is even doing worst? I don't follow any of them but they seam kinda equal, TXT didn't had any comeback since may while Stray kids had one recently, maybe this is why you think this, i read that outside album sales Stray Kids comeback also dropped compared to Maniac in streams so we have to wait and see, i think all top 4th gen bgs are kinda similar level

  • What's also funny about this is that this is despite the amount of payola Hybe do for TXT when it comes to the west. TXT seem to be involved in any western award show with some kpop involvement (along with Seventeen now as well), getting wins/nominations above groups doing better than them.

Hybe payola in the west is something else. With New Jeans getting TTH playlisting I wonder who else is next.

  • Arent they equal though? Txt hasnt had comeback in a while and stray kids kinda flopped digitally this comeback. Sales are way inflated with millions of versions so cant be used to measure true success.

  • I don't understand why most use the kpop metric with TXT. We have JYP using the same system that SM used with Super M, also the same Ads system that YG used in the beginning of BP. If you think SKZ's growth is organic, then let's wait a few more years. SKZ had a great opportunity in 2020 but they stayed in their own genre without taking any chances, now that they have their broadcasts have not doubled, only their sales. TXT is an unpredictable group, we can't track their growth because they haven't reached their peak like SKZ yet.
