No lie, half my initial interest in RV was because I am obsessed with red velvet cake. Excellent name choice.
I feel like Devil's Food could work. It's both a delicious cake and it could be a funny tongue-in-cheek darker leaning group.

I agree Red Velvet is a great name but a lousy dessert, is nothing but plain cake coloured red with whipped cream. not extra flavour at all. You like cakes with no taste, here have a Red Velvet
