Quality in Kpop is a subset of success.
Success is easier achieved by groups, which groom fandoms, and those fandoms don't fully transfer when the group members go solo and the group goes inactive.
That has been true so far, and will happen to BP, Twice, BTS etc.,
Taeyeon probably is the most successful of ex-group soloists.
It has nothing to do with objective quality of the song,
Take Adora for example, she was a producer, songwriter for few major hits of BTS - so the quality of her music should not be the issue, still no success - solo, brand, marketing matters for that.
Ex-Izone solo songs are not that bland or bad, by kpop average. But they have little traction outside of Wizones, Unless they get some viral hit, they will just putter along, slowly losing sales.
Soloists in general will not be as successful as groups in Kpop. If they come from a successful group, then they will still not be as successful as their groups, if the group goes inactive.
There is one exception to that trend and that phenomenon has no explanation.
