this is unpopular because a lot of people say he's overrated, and that he's undeserving of the *4th Gen It Boy* title..at least as of right now in his career, and that he's only known so far now because he's pushed by HYBE-which means his current popularity is inorganic.
now we all know how popular Jang Wonyoung is..like literally she's the most popular 4th gen idol in general right now. she's booked and busy left and right, and even haters of hers acknowledge that she's very known.
now the reason i put her and Choi Yeonjun in the same sentence is because i feel like he's on his way to the same type of stardom as her. like people only look at where he's at now, and judge him based on not being known fr in Korea and people feel like he hasn't done anything worth being i guess popular (idk, im just going off of what i've read people say about him). but if you look at some of the things he's done 3 years into his career, and also compare him to the other male idols thats in the Top 6: 4th Gen Boy Groups [STRAY KIDS, other TXT members, ENHYPEN, TREASURE, ATEEZ, THE BOYZ] he's pretty ahead (in terms of building a individual image for himself).
like i feel he's slowly starting to build his individuality apart from TXT..which is a good thing, because not everybody gets that chance to build themselves outside of their group or company. also i think in 2021 last year was when he really started getting solo opportunities, which is when sadly he started building haters. fast forward now to 2022, he's gotten more gigs and is slowly starting to get out there and known as YEONJUN-and not just "oh this guy from TXT or he's in the same company as BTS, so yeah he's cool i guess", and now he gets dragged all the time for every little thing he does, which shows me he's becoming a threat.

Overall : he is showing massive growth already, and will continue to do so in the next few years.people forget that TXT is still in their 3rd year, and has already been growing steadily. as more opportunities will come, Yeonjun will further solidify his title as 4th gen It Boy.and just like he has addressed before, he claims it now and will hold the pressure of such a title to do better in everything he does. he is gonna use the title to improve himself, and idk about you but seeing how much noise he's already making, the future is brighter for him.
