IVE approval process to use the sample for After Like took 6 months, and huge costs were involved!

I don't understand using samples, especially a really known one like this. I wish they could make their own music. It just makes it feel fake.

But yes, these things take time, even regular comebacks with out samples takes a long process.

Producers can prepare a song, cook it over years, even without knowing who will be singing it.

A very small percentage of songs are created specifically for a group/singer.

Many interviews producers have revealed about songs meant for one group going to another, or an act rejecting one song, another picking it up and making it a success etc.,

It is an industrial process - think in terms of all the parts being constantly manufactured and kept in pipeline, or a restaurant prep -where the preparation of various sauces and part-cooking is done.

Then when there is a demand, the parts are put together, the recipe is built and delivered.

So this might have little to do with IVE's own timeline.

Yeah IVE was planned years in advance. If you think about it in 8-9 months since they debuted they've had like 3 great CBs. CBs take months to plan so most likely they were planned in advance.

song was released in 1978, so it doesn't become public domain until 70 years after Gloria Gaynor's death (she ain't dead yet).

Came out in the 70s and Gloria is still alive, as well as one of the writers. It's probably not going into public domain until the next century

Wow, that's impressive but I'm happy they were able to use it because it sounds great!

And I think it's highly possible that Love Dive was in the works even way earlier before that.

Like today during the live Dahyun said that she's been writing lyrics for their new songs during their tour, which went from December to May, so you can imagine they've been working on this album for quite some time too.
