It Girls

I think scandal is what killed the hype for Irene and Seolhyun.

Suzy, Yoona, and Jennie are from the big 3, so they already had a step up from everyone else. IU is just IU.

If I had to call 4th gen IT Girls, I would say Wonyoung, Karina, Winter, and Minji seem like the current girls most popular to hype up. If JYPE would actually market, Yuna or Sullyoon also. Kazuha too, but it depends on how well Source markets her.

I am sure there were earlier discussions on the subject and as usual it is very subjective.

It is not just being popular outside of music, for example Sejeong is very popular with loads of CFs etc.., but is not considered an "it" girl.

It is popularity + trend setter in fashion etc + also an element of allure. That's intangible.

That's why I prefer the "Soju condition", - the allure, the "It girl" should have been a model for major Soju brand or major alcohol brand.

Since typically they can do that only when they turn 21, 4th generation will have to wait and see, if the idols who are called 'It' will retain their IT-ness till they turn 21.

As to earlier generations, yes it fluctuates. Some have been stable in their "It girl" status.

And then there is IU, like in music, a tier of her own. Model for Chamiseul for what now 7th year?, Chamiseul came back to her from Irene.

Taeyeon is also a mainstay it girl but without doing the usual it girls route.
