Jin needs more confidence

  • From his Be hind interviews it seems like the man under estimates himself so much. He says he doesn’t have an emotional or powerful vocals. He is not confident when writing songs as he gets very embarrassed about others finding out that he wrote such kind of songs so he deletes them. It’s so sad. How someone in such a high place still holds so much insecurity and doubt in them self.

Like I find so much comfort in listening to epiphany, moon, tonight & abyss bcos he translates those emotions so well. And his vocals in jpn songs like crystal snow etc are top notch.

Changed the title of the thread from “Jin’s is so 😭😭😭” to “Jin needs more confidence”.
  • Jin's voice is getting better and better, and Abyss was amazing !

I didn't get the feeling that he lacked confidence. He is humble, and thrives to always do better, but that's kind of admirable imo.

Don't hesitate to post a few messages on Weverse about his songs, I'm sure he appreciates all the love he receives for them, and that it helps him to get more confident with his song-writing skills :claps:

  • "He says he doesn’t have an emotional or powerful vocals."

I might be wrong, but isn't self-praise a negative thing in Korean society? It is very rare to see any of those idols saying good things about themselves, especially in interviews. So, maybe it's not insecurity, more like humility.

  • I don't think he lacks confidence, I think he just has high standards.

He's shared in the past about being insecure about his voice because he didn't come to the group with a lot of vocal training, but in recent times he's been a lot more upbeat about it and hasn't seemed bothered. He knows that he actually has the largest range of the whole group, and that he's been praised relentlessly for his vocal work in their releases, especially lately (google what people are saying about his MTV "Fix You" performance).

Moon, Abyss, and Epiphany have all done amazing numbers and drawn praise for their lyrics and their sound, so the tracks he does put out are outstanding. I do think he compares himself to RM and Suga, who both write more quickly, but when he's released singles they've set records.

So yeah, I think he's just laid-back and fairly humble. You can see it in how he handles the rest of the group: even though he's the oldest, he doesn't lord it over anyone, he just clowns around with them. I think that's just his personality.

  • In fact, none of the vocal line member had taken vocal lessons prior to the company. But from the start, Jin is definitely the most self-improving member. Now he's even more stable than Jimin, and his voice is as strong as his. His voice harmonizes perfectly with both Tae and Jungkook. Especially on the BE album, I think Tae and Jin really stand out. I hope Big Hit starts to give him more lines.

Also what is confidence..? To not be afraid of showing doubts and offer comfort to others by allowing not so perfect sides to be out there too. This is why he is me eternal bias. And lethal look ofc

  • I see Jin to be one of the most confident people Ive seen. To be that open about your insecurities and fears takes lots of courage.

These were things he used to hide a lot from the members themselves too, and now he’s able to reach beyond that. It’s also beautiful to know that with all these hurdles battling within him, he still makes sure to give us his best performances and best solo projects. He’s very inspiring and I pray he continues to grow and be dazzled by his own splendor one day :borahae:

You hear idols talk about how they will work harder to improve what they're lacking and show a better image but Jin was really talking himself down quite specifically

BTS are quite open with their insecurities and self evaluations, I genuinely don't think it's just a case of general humility. It's just honesty for them.

  • I think that being in a high place doesn't necessarily bring perfect confidence

If anything they put pressure on themselves to live up to that position

Jin has said previously that he felt conflicted about praise for their dynamite achievement because he felt unworthy compared to others

I think the right vocal coach can help him get to where he wants to be

Power isn't his issue, no one else in BTS could have delivered epiphany like he did

I have faith in you SeokJin!

  • yeah I also don't get it why so many ARMYs interpreted his answers as lack of confidence. IMO he just pointed out something he wants to improve. The boys always strive for perfecting their crafts.

  • honestly i didn't rlly see him saying that as a lack of confidence or underestimating himself. he simply doesnt consider himself to be an emotional or powerhouse singer naturally. which is highly debatable ofc bc i think he he can convey emotion well and can belt well too, but thats his opinion of his own voice. he knows how hard he has to work to pull off those things. he knows he's not a bad singer and he never said he was. he just thinks his voice is "clean".
