RE : Top 5 national hits from 3rd gen groups?

Do y'all count Brave Girl's Rollin 3rd Gen?
Didn't they debut like 2011 or 2012?

But their current lineup is from 2016

Hmmm...... I guess it's debatable. The group exists since 2011 but the current members since 2016 . But rollin won't currently make it to top5 even if we put them in 3rd gen

D4 actually has more uls than love scenario
I think the most accurate representation of Korean charting is gaon...rather than melon
-

D4 had the bigger peak and better longevity in the long run.
what atropos said above...
but look we all have different criteria when judging a song' whether it's good/great/hit/national hit/global hit etc etc
there's never a single right answer...
if you believe D4 to be a bigger hit than LS cool there's not much point in argue over subjective reasoning..
on the other hand if you want I'm more than happy to entertain your reasons and rationale and criteria and weighting for determining whether a song is bigger than another...

its still charting but lower than d4

By this logic, As If It's Your Last would be more likely to make this list than Cheer Up.
There are a lot of factors that should probably be considered, even though yes Gaon is the best representation since it's a compilation of many charts and overall money made. -

Cheer up is bigger than all of these. It's at 6M uls and if gaon points existed it would be the gg song with max points. And I also guess it's craze was the biggest.

The user mentions Gaon. AIIYL had more weeks on Gaon 100, and is the only girl group song to chart on the Gaon 200 for seven consecutive years. Cheer Up charted on the top 200 for only 2 or 3. AIIYL is also gaining more total ULs per year and will pass Cheer Up in about a year and a half. There's only a 200k UL difference as there is now.
As far as craze, D4 had a much bigger peak than Cheer Up. Considering it still has all those records. No group of any generation (after Gaon/Melon existed) except for Big Bang has a song that had more initial ULs or Gaon points.
Cheer Up was a massive national hit but it's success is a bit overrated considering these things. -

Cheer Up was a massive national hit but it's success is a bit overrated considering these things.I agree peak wise d4 was the biggest. But i do feel cheer up overall as a song is still bigger than d4 and aiiyl.
Now the thing is aiiyl will become bp's biggest song eventually due to summer. Something similar will even happen to Twice due to dtna as well.

Just with it's inability to chart well after falling out of the top 100, I just don't see it being bigger than D4. But I also don't see a huge gap between the two. A gap, yes, but not a big one. So it's not that important.
AIIYL stays in the top 200-300 pretty much year round. It rises into the 150-250 range for summer, but I wouldn't credit it to summer since it gets consistent ULs year round. DTNA would be more because of summer since outside of summer, where it jumps up 300-500 spots on the top 1000, it performs quite poorly. -

Agree on that. The difference is not massive.

Blackpink songs in general chart quite well outside the melon top200. They are strong on Melon. Even ktl has accumulated a lot of uls which ppl wouldn't have thought it would.

the real question isn't which song is bigger than another (which is a subjective answer) but rather trying to work out the criteria and metrics and weighting to determine who bigger (or better) is to be determined
