Honestly, they could be more dramatic considering just how wtf this comeback is. I can't tell if JYP was making a serious attempt or not. Like, no sane person would have listened to that song, picked that concept that doesn't even match, and go "Yup, this will definitely hit big and top the charts!"
Or maybe the goal was to be quirky like Billie but that's such a hard thing to pull off.
They were definitely not trying to be "quirky like Billlie." ITZY's been having B-sides that sound similar to "Sneakers." Just listen to "24HRS." Same nursery rhyme mixed with rapping. I find it really cool how that's their style.
It's really nothing new for ITZY. I'm not sure why people are surprised as if this is experimental when they've been doing it for years.
