RE: "Gdragon liking seungri posts on Instagram"

  • I'll call it as I see it. This is definitely worrying behavior. I hope he's alright mentally. There's no way anyone who's rational and healthy up there would be doing this.

As K-pop fans, we talk a lot about mental health. We know about the impact fame has on idols, especially if they entered this industry at a young age. But when it's time to get serious about it, all we do is hate, judge, and bash. We call them attention seekers. We judge them and assume their intentions.

We talk a lot about trying to recognize the signs, but when a person really goes through it, we're not even able to recognize that they're calling out for help.

Are we really ready for this kind of conversation? I think not.

    Replying to:

    OP
  • on the one hand, maybe he's unwell, in which case I hope he's getting help, but also on the other this guy is coddled so damn much it's infuriating, other idols would have been ripped apart for half of the stuff he's been pulling but it's GD so everyone's all either he's just "trolling" or he's "not well", he's never responsible for being messy in the eyes of ifans I guess.

I'm sure he's being ripped apart right now by K-netizens as well as lots of I-fans. Nobody deserves to be "ripped apart" for any of this.

I think it's possible to acknowledge this isn't appropriate behavior and hold him accountable without antagonizing and bashing him. If he needs help, he needs help.

This is when you learn about mental illness, but at the same time lack the emotional intelligence to use that knowledge in an affective way. It’s useless.

They will notice the signs if it’s in their eyes the perfect victim, the innocent one, the unproblematic one. For many it’s a hard concept to understand that many people with “weird” behaviors are mentally unstable too and it’s their cry for help.

Many fail to notice the signs because the person involved is someone they don’t like. They therefore dehumanize such people and treat them as someone solely worth criticism and judgment. They only see the “bad person” persona and not the human behind it. Because anything else would mean or could look like sympathizing with them, which they don’t want.

In GD’s case, he is a member of BigBang, they are sOoOo pRoBlAmAtIc, a Group that once housed Seungri. Therefore he is the worst you can think off, not worth any empathy, everything he does is because of malice.

But if you look at his situation from an objective perspective without prejudice, it’s clear to see he is not ok. He even lost a lot of weight and acts in a strange manner. Yet people are still humiliating him 24/7, even making fun about how he looks now. They completely dehumanized him and are treating him as a punching bag. And many will think treating him that way is justified cause it’s his own fault.

Bullying is justified if the person is “problematic” in their opinion. Now watch them talk about how bullying can affect you for the rest of your life … lol

  • What I meant is that he didn't get charged with rape like the others.

And I'm aware that it's problematic as I said but willing prostitutes him getting them work isn't the same.

If only prostitution was only such a surface situation without many other factors in it..

And he was fully aware abt what his friends were doing, and there was no way he didnt know what was going on inside his club either. He is no better just because he didnt get "charged" with rape like "the others".

  • Yeah, he's been moving weird.

TOP posted something cryptic too in regard to GD. All very strange. It's his own social media, and he can do what he want. But, maybe he should log off for a bit.

And, yet, then again, maybe all of this is purposeful? But to what end? He is an enigma, and I just hope nothing bad comes out of this.

  • I'm not saying he's innocent or anything but the unforgivable sin would be rape that's what I'm saying.

Seungri has been gds friend more than 15 years. To move on from this would be his opinion.. it doesn't mean he is mentally ill.

I do agree that u cant-and shouldnt- try to assess someone's mental health based on ig likes and content, but on what grounds is rape the only unforgivable sin? for who?

Friends with him for 15 years or not, this doesnt mean he should be supporting a person like that. The shock and disgust comes twice as hard when someone close to u does things like that, even if its hard to move on.

Really? Have you got a link? Thanks

Are you asking about TOP? If so, then this is what I am referring to. Has nothing to do with GD's mental health or well being. Just alluding to some behind the scenes friction in the group. People have said GD has also been liking a lot of OT5 Big Bang things, so maybe he's having a hard time letting go.

  • gd's erratic behaviour is either being labelled by his fans as "trolling" netizens and making fun of his haters or his fans spin it as his mental health declining hence he's acting out like how teenagers misbehave but if you put off your stan goggles, you'd realize that no idols gets a pass the way big bang does. His weird and borderline behaviour also causes other idols to receive hate, there's no excuse

  • I thought he was trolling with the jennie shipping posts, but this seems to be serious now with a pattern of behavior. I'm not going to make assumptions, because I'm not really a VIP or g-dragon fan so I don't know much about him, but it's not really a good look regardless.

  • I don't know what's happening but I don't think it's the responsibility of the fans or online users to detect mental health issues in idols. That sounds harsh but we don't actually know these people and a lot of speculation that will be involved in determining if or not someone has any mental health issues and even so, we could be completely wrong. So yeah, unless someone confirms they have issues, I don't think we should diagnose them.

  • it's probably hard to disassociate oneself from a person that one considered a brother...

I'm sure for BB and a lot of kpop groups that started from nothing to get to where they are today they are effectively family

I'm not condoning what Seungri did or what GD did but just trying to give an explanation as to why maybe he did it
