If pessimistic to the point where you don't try because you think you'll fail anyways that's bad.
But pessimistic to the fact that you keep expectations low, can be a good thing.
It can be. But as much as there are toxic optimism there is also toxic pessimism.
I'm quite pessimistic. I don't expect people to help me, I don't expect to succeed, or good thing to happen to me. I keep my expectation low, and very grateful for every nice thing that come my way.
I expect that I can put 100% of effort and get no result. I expect that you don't always get what you want, majority of the time. And I expect that life at its baseline is suffering.
But that doesn't stop me from trying or living. So when I succeed I am very happy, and when I don't, it doesn't affect me so much because I'm already mentally prepared.
And yes I am quite happy. I could be happier with more money though.
Yes. Actually it's better to express and acknowledge your fears instead of hiding or brushing it off with false hope. But we need to find a right balance between optimism and pessimism. One isn't always better than the other.
Blackpink will teach you that lesson.

I tend to be pessimistic but I'm also a realist who sees things for what they are and not sugar coats things. Life hasn't been easy for me but I think I'm happy enough with my lot especially with a partner and a beautiful daughter, So yes, in some respects it can.

Being pessimistic just makes me more anxious, I try and accept thing as they are instead of thinking of the worst. If I keep thinking if the worst that can happen I tend to go overboard and start panicking. Being a realist is prolly the best for a happy life imo, accepting life as it is and still enjoying the positives. Still, I like to take an absurdist view of the world sometimes since it’s very fun.
Here’s a question: a branch falls from a tree somewhere in a forest. You are not there to witness it. What sound does the branch make?
Some would say you don’t know what sound it would make, others would be rational and say it makes the sound a branch falling makes, I say the branch could quack for all we know….at least I think this whenever I want to have fun lol. But it’s interesting to think about, If you don’t perceive life then what is it? Descartes says you can only be surof the existence of yourself and god. I think therefore I am. So technically we don’t know that anything else is reality.
