Will dating in kpop be normalized in the future?

I hope so but it seems unlikely since so many fans not only don’t want their faves to date but are out there trying to gatekeep who their faves date, if they are even dating someone. They never worry about the important things like does that person treat your fave well, do they make them happy, do they enjoy each other’s company, do they make them laugh or think or feel valued and appreciated and loved, do they respect them and the work they do and support them. Instead they worry about whether they think that person is “good” enough for their fave.

I always find it really sad when someone gets devalued for not being hot enough/successful enough/cool enough/whatever arbitrary opinion people have on them and those people aren’t asking but does this person support and encourage, listen and love. Do they make your favorite idol feel like the most awesome person in the world? I hope so. That’s what matters, not that Pookie D of Enigma is not “good” enough in your mind. But regardless, it’s really none of your business.

There’s too much money to make into keeping the illusion of them being only devoted to their fans and thus keeping a lot of fans overly attached

I don't think it will ever be normalized company now days are more and more minimizing female and male idols interactions you'll never see a 4 gen idol looking in direction of a follow female colleague just to not spark any dating rumors.

And for Jennie and V let's not forget that BTS are in their 9th year of activity their fans aren't as intense as they used to be if the dating happen 3 or 4 years Army would've lost their shit.

depends, if Korean culture continues to become increasingly westernized then I could see kpop fans becoming more and more like western fans and viewing dating between celebrities as juicy gossip rather than a catastrophe, however that would require kpop fans to stop imagining that they are married to their idols which i think is unlikely unless kpop companies change their marketing strategy

It don’t have that much to do with Korean culture as to with the concept of “idol” which are supposed to sell a fantasy, be “available” and only care for their fans. Actors date and that’s not a problem

I dgaf if it gets "normalised" by fans or not, but the sense of entitlement some fans have over their faves needs to be broken. I would much rather see idols happy and open relationships while fans cry than the opposite.

I think never. One point of Kpop bussiness is that you can and have to fall in love of idols and become obsessed with them (mostly for male idols) and obssesion=sales. And since Kpop is full of inmature and obssesive people, openly dating is very bad for bussiness

hopefully since each generation (not kpop generation - human generation) generally learns to be more open and accepting than the previous one but obviously it might take a while

Since most Kpop Idols are under the age of 19 years (from birthdate) when they debut, it means they are still Minors in SK.
