What pisses me off is, whenever we have a discussion about cumulative sales of Twice, they jump in saying "Twice has 34356 albums" but somehow they fail to admit that the same reason helps BP to generate more sales per comeback. ? Like if they just accept it, I'd let them go. But they'd rather think that BP with 34536 albums would still maintain the gap and sell even more. They don't just want BP to be considered the biggest, but they also want to have a control over which stats matter the most in general.

From November last year Onces bought 900k of FOL, 700k old albums, Japanese single and album 200k, Nayeon solo 500k and still gonna buy 1 million of comeback albums. What did blinks buy in the last 1 years since Lisa solo came out? They gotta be real.

Since Blink is not responding i did some research & count it for them.

Since Lisa solo came out they bought 800K of Lalisa, 400K other albums & gonna buy at least 2 million of the next album. So around 3.2 million from 11 catalogue (2 newly released). Based on your post Onces bought around 3.3 million from 28 catalogue (3 newly released).

    They are being real.

Fans of both groups but that general belief that Blackpink is in different tier may be questionable but it didn't come out of no where.

    1. Audio stream

Locally they are about the same but Twice latest successful song was in 2019 (Fancy) & their latest hit songs were in 2018 (Yes Or Yes). Internationally BP is indeed a cut above twice in this category.

    2. Video stream

BP is top, while Twice is clearly only behind BP & BTS but the gap is still big.

    3. Album sales

Up until 2018 Twice lead this category but in 2019 BP is closing the gap then in 2020 The Album came & sold more that double Eyes Wide Open (released right after). Since BP release The Abum Twice had 3 Korean comeback but still not yet surpassed it. Then come Born Pink that will most likely also double the sales of Between 1&2.

    4. Concert attendance

Both group around the same ballpark with BP have the slight edge. Both group can do Dome tours in Japan & Arena tour for the rest of Asia & North America. BP have slight edge because they can hold concert in more place (Europe & Oceania). BP also have edge when both group did their online concert during pandemic.

    5. Individual member popularity

While this category might be not too important but it contributes to people perception of both group. Starting from their ig, brand ambassadorship, fashion magazine cover/photo shoot, individual CF, solo career, etc. I still blame JYP for not maximizing Twice potential in this area.

Some people will argue that they are not in different tier but they can't deny that BP is clearly ahead of Twice.

Honestly, I'd normally be against it, because fuck the corporations sucking up fans' money for no reason, but with all them bitches dragging Twice, they definitely should. 1 year hiatus, no Japanese or solo stuff in between and member version digipacks - 3 million first update.

if they announce it then that 1 miliion is already including those additional version. Did you think store didn't know about those version beforehand?

2 more albums for bp but twice can prolly make more if they have digi pax :eyes:

Fans would riot if JYP gave them digipack. Their track record of random album is not welcomed but if they allow fans to choose then it goes against JYP strategy to not makes difference in popularity between member obvious.

Also, real money talk, I don't think they will release digipack unless their price is like Born Pink. With the current price the margin is too low. Twice didn't have incentive to make media play headline with album sales anymore (unlike rookie groups) if it sacrifice JYP profit but if don't they will do it.

From my experience & observation over the years based on kpop markert at that time:

( ------ ) means there was no domination, too many group perform at similar level (2016 BG & 2015 GG) or just flat out empty (2022 BG).

    Year Boy Group
    Girl Group
    2007 Bigbang Wonder Girls
    2008 Bigbang Wonder Girls
    2009 Super Junior SNSD
    2010 ----------- SNSD
    2011 Beast 2NE1
    2012 Bigbang Sistar
    2013 EXO SNSD
    2014 EXO -----------
    2015 Bigbang
    -----------
    2016 ----------- Twice
    2017 BTS Twice
    2018 BTS Blackpink
    2019 BTS Blackpink
    2020 BTS Blackpink
    2021 BTS Aespa
    2022 ----------- Blackpink

wow, what is so incoherent in there? It's clear as sky if you know rap.

I can even explain it to you if you want...

sorry maybe I didn't phrase my pondering correctly lol

I'm saying let's say only one song from Nayeon's album does well which is Pop and the total points for that equals the entire points for Joy's album (TT + bsides) so ultimately both albums have the same number of points (or similar) but for one person it's because only of the TT whereas for the other it's the cumulative TT + bsides...the question would be would one say they both did equally as well...

Having 1 hit song can give an artist opportunity for more exposure but i won't call both Pop! & Hello as a hit, they are more like a solid successful release like Somi's Dumb Dumb, Rose's On The Ground or STAYC's ASAP.

On the other hand having several b-side that charted even though low at first can give an artist advantage later in their career with good b-side reputation. The ultimate goal is to be like IU or G-Dragon & several artist that kinda have that reputation are AKMU, Blackpink, Bol4, etc. People will check your b-side & with that they have higher chance to chart & receive small success or even becoming a hit song.

HYLT is an honest mistake involving religion & they correct it. The rest of CA mess online involving any kpop group for just using it is just a US thing. Majority of the world have no problem with usage of their culture as long as with respect.

As for Union/Nurse thing in LSG they just want to make it a problem because if they are really upset about it they can choose many group before & after BP. Also several Movies, TV show, Variety Shows as well but they didn't.

I define it girl as being popular with korean public (outside kpop fandom) and have real life impact like CFs & TV appearances, not just word of mouth.

Based on my observation I noticed that there are 2 type of it girl in Korea:

    1. Mainstay (Yoona, IU, Suzy, Jennie)

    2. Temporary (Seolhyun, Hani, Hyeri, Irene, Hwasa)

What did you think that make them received different attention?

Who is the current idol that have a chance or in the way to become the next it girl?

Gonna be honest, Lisa specific things tend to always have something shady or not quite right going on. Like she somehow doesn't have the same team as the other 3 Pinks, lmao.

Idk if YG is just really incompetent and the other girls fanbases just don't mention it as often or something is actually happening to target Lisa. Guess we'll know once contract renewals come up.

It happens to all of them, even as a group but only Lisa solo stan make so much noise (usually start from her Thai fans). Yesterday they also make similar mistake with title poster with 4 of them in a tweet.

The problem is YG always tweet using 2 acc (YG Family & Blackpink) so the chance of messing up also double. 1 correct tweet & 1 with misspelling/missing link then they will rally with that 1 mistake. Not specific to this incident but that always the case.

ahh so does the group Cbar not count towards the phrase "Cbar" or is the OP saying that only solo Cbars aren't buying???

As all kpop fans know, sales from solo bar for any kpop group will always bigger than the group bar and it is already known that BP solo bar will be boycotting their next group project.

OP thinks YG will regret not listening to solo bar complain (although i still don't get what they want) but it is common knowledge that Chinese fans do order from solo bar but they are not akages so when solo bar is not doing any group order they just buy the album individually or through group bar.

isn’t Lisa being affected right now by not reporting her sales? Like she can’t make money if her album sale aren’t being counted. It’s not just about records.

Also, BP 24 hrs preorder sales could be much larger right now. Lisa by herself got 96k what more with all 4 of them. Right now they’re barely passing NCT record

All of you basically saying YG is scamming Lisa, Teddy, Bekuh Boom, 24, Vince, R.Tee, Yong In Choi, Yongju Bang, Jason Roberts and Chris Gehringer. (All people that will receive royalties not just salaries)

    Wow, YG is very bold.

Looks like they will break the law & took advantage of all their in-house or partner for some more profit.

Someone in YG meeting: "Hey, LALISA sold around 850K but just report 800K so we can make more money & ruin all our relationship with Lisa, Teddy, Songwriter, Producer & Engineer also it breaks the law, so on brand with our image that we try to salvage."

    1. NewJeans got more support from HYBE (3 songs that they are confident to be a title track + MV for all their songs).

    2. Garam controversy.

    3. Le Sserafim debuted at pretty awkward time. During Tomboy, Love Dive & Still Life totally dominating chart then not long after come Psy, Lim Young-woong & BTS to suck all the hype that's left. Also there are several not expected hit songs that also released around that time (Beyond Love, Dear My X, Love Me).

    4. We haven't seen NewJeans performance when public focus isn't on them. Let's wait until Blackpink & Twice comeback to asses their chart performance again.

Despite all that, NewJeans already have more successful debut compared to Le Sserafim.

    Their title track success rank:

    1. Attention

    2. Hype Boy

    3. Fearless

    4. Cookie
