I’m surprised fancy was even a hit, that song was pretty mid
I liked Feel Special way more but it got paid dust and dirt compared to Fancy

Okay...
Most songs that are in Top 5/10 are based off quantity...that is easily manipulated. So how exactly does a song being in the Top 5 or not make it a "true" hit song?
Different people have different tastes and why would ask such a question to a diverse audience without expecting subjective inputs?
It's truly hard to ask such a question while expecting answers that are devoid of personal feelings and opinion
My horse in pasture, you're making something very straightforward needlessly complicated for no reason. It really isn't that deep. We have numerous, objective metrics we can use to analyze the performance of songs and artists, and this data is what said artists and their labels use to determine how successful their releases are and how many people consume their music. There are obviously subjective, intrinsically personal qualities to music, but companies need to have some way of parsing data to remain profitable and keep producing music--the venture isn't free. HYBE, the largest label in K-Pop, BARELY turned a profit this year from all their spending and expansion.
So, as I said, this is based off the objective data points we use to determine the relative success of a song.
I want to know if people think Twice can get their biggest hit song since their last legitimate hit, which was Fancy, and so far the answer is no.

So by your definition then no I don't think they will be able to release another "true hit song" unless JYP steps up his game and gets them better creative directors.
Personally tho: TWICE HAS in fact released a hit song in the last 5 years. Why? Well I think what makes a hit song is it's creativity. A true hit song has to transcend an appeal to trends. It has to portray truly artistic storytelling that is honestly not a common sight in some (if not most) songs nowadays.
Not to mention some people don't really care about the creativity of a song. They only listen to it because of its catchy, trendy, and rhythmic feats (that give them earworms) which isn't a bad thing but still..not what I would consider a hit song.
I can name several songs that I consider a true hits and has not been in any high position on charts.
If that is your personal definition of a hit, which I've no interest in telling someone how they want to define music, then that's fine but we're talking about two different things
I'm not referring to anything qualitative or subjective but instead quantitative and objective.
Will or won't Twice have another chart topping hit? And do people realize it's been 5 years since the last time they did it?
I can name several girl groups older than Twice who have more recently had hit songs, so it's not just a matter of no longer being the trend or it group.

This is such a strange argument to me.
If you are talking about knetz posts, and social media posts etc - then yeah those people tend to move on after a few years.
But there's no issue with longevity impacting GP songs. If you make songs that are good and "in the trend" then the GP will listen to them. Regardless of whether you are a "GP" group or not.
Day6 are now hitting their stride 10 years in. Idle still getting PAKs and number 2s in their final year. Oh My Girl took 6 years but had a string of mega hits in Korea.
In fact I'd say the opposite - Blackpink are now in their 7-8th year and Rose just got a MegaHit. All the gen3 groups have had amazing longevity even in GP spaces, compared to this continual characterization that the GP moves on quickly.
Despite people saying in 2022 that "everyone will move on quickly" we are at the ass end of 2024 and it's basically NJ, AEPSA, IVE and I-DLE in Korea. And so far nothing of the new groups has suggested that'll change.
Let's call a spade a spade
People are just making excuses for Twice that for some reason didn't negatively impact their predecesssors, peers or successors.
Only Twice operates in this silo where only their music suffers from a host of compromises no other girl group is subjected to.

Sure, let's forget about MAMAMOO, they made a whole career about covering old songs!🤣

Mamamoo did a spectacular job of mastering and performing retro concepts but there was nothing distinctly 80s about any of their official releases. Their first few releases instead had influences from an even more bygone era with a sexy blend of jazz, blues and a slightly more modern infusion of R&B. The kind of soothing but rhythmic tunes you'd expect to hear through the closed doors of your local speakeasy.
Time to go listen to Piano Man

Their upcoming comeback probably not?
But if twice will take a 2-3 year hiatus then they can get a smash hit imo!
But twice will no longer be a digital powerhouse
Since all jyp ggs have been flopping in Korea(Nmixx is not flopping but isn’t doing better than many other ggs)
Twice makes too many comebacks and it is one of the reasons that they can’t chart in Korea
All I'm gathering is nobody has faith in their ability to get another big hit song, which is why most of the responses have been attacks against me, the messenger, or stat dumps completely unrelated to charting.
I forgot Megg was featured on their upcoming track. And I'm unsure if that helps or hurts the chances Korea loves the song.
