That's a completely different situation.
It literally isn't. An underage idol doesn't suddenly stop being a minor simply because older idols are in their group. That is such a slippery slope, and if anything, it could even be maliciously used by actual creeps to justify their actions.
While we're doing this exercise in logic, do the idols suddenly no longer warrant protection the moment they turn 18? Suddenly it's not a big deal if they have to deal with a creepy pervert?
You see, this is the problem when you create these arbitrary "rules" for gatekeeping who gets to stan what idols and then try to make it a one size fits all proposition.
As I've said before, there's a difference between liking the music and going to a fan meet.
Sounds like more arbitrary gatekeeping to me. You can be a fan, but you're not allowed to go to a fan event.
Like someone said earlier, these are statements made by people who spend way too much time on the Internet. That isn't how the real world works. Ever.
If someone really likes a group's music, they will become a fan. If that group has an event for their fans, that person will go, and they won't give a damn what other people think.
It's a fanmeet not dinner and a movie. Like, what do people think actually happens at these fanmeets?
I've been to every fanmeet Mamamoo has ever had in the states, and some abroad. You get an album or poster signed if you're lucky, say a sentence or two and wave, and then get ushered back to your designated spot, with security guiding you the whole time. This isn't the high risk event people are making it out to be.
Hardly something that warrants these "we must protect the children!!!" reactive takes.
