Forget Japan, what's most concerning is their performance in the West.

Everyone knows breaking into the Western market is the golden ticket and K-pop groups have generally failed in the West. The reality is Japan and Korea are shrinking markets. The demographics show there will be fewer and fewer young people over the next 10-20 years and the market will continue to shrink.

People in the West, particularly in the US have more disposable income and generally will pay more for concert tickets. You can also get better brand deals if you influence the Western markets.

I think a group like XG has more upside potential than most K pop GG at the moment which is crazy to say. They seem to be making more moves and gaining more attention in the west at the moment.

It's going to be hard to replicate their success with Magnetic. LGS was a great song but did not perform nearly as well.

I'm not a fan of Lolita-style groups, so I'm not the target audience. I think their success will be heavily dependent on the Asian markets and I don't know what the general sentiment is given all the Hybe drama.

love RV , but this is a blop for me. It had potential but felt a bit flat and too safe.

These girls just need one hit to make it to the top. They have talent to spare, the music hasn't been quite there so far. YG needs to bring in a more modern producer with a better vision that incorporates YG's sig sound while evolving it to the modern day.

i agree. the songs for this comeback are aggressively mediocre. the roll-out was confusing, a new song every 2 weeks and two ep's to maximize profits. after such a long hiatus I expected more.

Yea what we don't see are all the trainees that didn't make it. They sacrifice their youth and education for nothing. Some are even stuck with debt due to "training" fees from labels. it's a nasty business, but the chance to make it big is too alluring for most to pass up. For every idol that makes it thousands never will.

TODAY, they still get way more Spotify streams than IVE or aespa.

this just proves NJ's regression. their current songs can't manage 1.5m daily streams on Spotify. Either they are becoming less popular, or their past success was heavily influenced by hybe's black magic.

They'll go down in K-pop history for mhj and hybes beef and use it as a cautionary tale of how a big group can flop out of their top spot overnight.

it seems kpop is in a downtrend. BTS and BP absence had an effect. but I think kpop rebounded a bit during covid when a lot of people were stuck inside consuming more media. Kpop MV's are much better than western MV's and I think that brought in a lot of new fans, who have moved on now.
