In HYBE’s press release I saw Bang Shi Hyuk mentioned supporting Lee Soo Man’s vision for the metaverse so aespa is safe no matter which side they go with I guess.

The best news I’ve heard all day. I hated SM so much ever since he was given so much creative control in branding some of their groups sound in recent years/pushing the SMP outdated title tracks that nobody asked for.

There are so many other talented SM producers like Kenzie that I actually feel YYJ leaving is the best solution to stop SM from sounding so countrified. Plus if you look at all the biggest hits/bops that have come out from SM they were all mostly made by international producers. As long as SM keeps their main producing team they’ll be fine because YYJ really only contributed to the “SMP” sound that let’s be honest most people don’t care for anymore.

It seems SM will be safest in HYBE’s hands vs Kakao because one specializes in music and the other specializes in tech.

LSM clearly has a vision for SM and in the joint statement with Bang Shi Hyuk, HYBE mentions supporting the metaverse, SM 3.0 multi-label system etc which shows they are more than willing to let SM be in creative control of what they do in terms of re-structuring and artistic direction albeit a few changes in management perhaps? Similar to ADOR, PLEDIS and Source Music all having creative control in what they do but receiving investment/resources from HYBE.

Chris Lee is sly and SM has been so badly mismanaged the past few years ever since he became CEO. Like really really bad management. Perhaps LSM’s crazy idea to sell to HYBE is actually a blessing in disguise for SM. Only time will tell.

Don’t usually care for SM groups but ngl im kinda intrigued by the NGG and NBG. If they want to actually give them any chance of doing well they need to be the complete opposite of aespa and NCT concept wise and musically.

No point having that many groups if everyone is going to sound the same. Guess we will see.

Just compare to TXT who are smashing the charts (rightfully so) with a super catchy song and a visually impressive MV.

NewJeans 3 songs from the same album already out-charted ITZY's last 4-5 comebacks with heavy promo like come on be serious they have the general public madly in love with them.

lmao ITZY comes back with 1 small hit after like 4 flop comebacks and midzy's already getting brave. Blackpink doesn't need to worry about ITZY when NewJeans is annihilating the charts right now, they got bigger fish to fry.

They were successful but actually NewJeans has the biggest debut of all time in Kpop.

Not a single group has managed to chart 3 songs from their debut album inside top 10 on Melon. Blackpink for sure did well, but me thinks NewJeans eclipsed them when Attention and Hype Boy took the top 2 spots of the charts (something Blackpink didn’t do until their 3rd comeback with DDDD & Forever Young).

Blackpink is the last major 3rd Gen group to make a comeback so we will FINALLY see whether or not the cracks that have started appearing for a lot of 3rd Gen groups, happen to them. Yes I know a lot of 3rd Gen groups are still going strong, but there’s no denying they’ve kinda already passed their peak/are starting on a slow decline.

It’s especially evident with BTS’s Yet To Come kinda doing mediocre on the charts especially since their album was very much anticipated and was really hyped up only to end up as one of their worst charting songs in years.

We are really living in unprecedented times when a barely 3 week old group is absolutely annihilating the charts right now and no better timing than with the worlds biggest female group dropping their new song this Friday.

Do you think Blackpink will show us that 3rd Gen dominance is still alive and strong, or will they too succumb to the decline that most 3rd Gen groups are now starting to experience. Good luck blinks, may the odds be ever in your favor!
