It finally happened. I wonder how high Spicy can go. Just saw Karina’s youngji video is still trending #1 on YouTube Korea and it’s been like 2 days now, definitely feel like her impact and also the university performances helped boost the song.
SM doing their job for once and look at the results. Always felt like aespa was handicapped on the charts because SM promo for them was complete ass during Girls era but now they’re doing what every other company does and look at how aespa thrives.
I feel like this is just the beginning for them tbh, now that they’re on a more even playing field. All they need is good playlisting but SM is still stuck in the dark ages when it comes to Spotify.
We also have to remember 4 out of 6 songs on My World were spoiled 3 months prior at their concert before the album release with the full audio from those concerts being available on YouTube. The initial hype for a brand new album was already lost vs other groups whose fans are hearing their favs song for the first time.
I think when aespa makes their return with their next album that doesn’t feature already spoiled songs, we will really see their true power as a group, whether it’s good or bad will yet to be determined. But I think it’s important to note the handicap aespa had to face with My World being constantly delayed, spoiled and leaked prior to its release.
