HYBE sucks. Period. I dislike most of their groups music tbh however ADOR….they ARE the future and HYBE better thank their lucky stars that NewJeans is keeping them relevant and trendy amongst the public.
HYBE producers/executives better keep their dirty autotune robot hands off of NewJeans music. My biggest fear honestly, especially after reading Min Hee Jin’s interview where she said she had to fight HYBE executives to keep the songs/concepts she wanted for NewJeans album. Thank god she did.

People forget that timing and luck in Kpop is so pivotal and important for building success, especially in the beginning. Even if they came back with a public friendly song, will the Korean public accept it and even bother to check them out?

As long as Nayeon is with JYP, it’ll never happen. Sure she will be popular but to attain Taeyeon level recognition and string of National Hits amongst the public? I’m gonna say no. JYP will definitely fumble that bag let’s be honest, they don’t have good track record with solo artists. I do think Nayeon has potential but not with JYP at the helm.
Yes the song is much bigger than them. Literally seen them make no noise beyond that song and then IVE came and eclipsed them with Love Dive and have been trending EVERYWHERE since then. Even NewJeans a brand new group have been trending everywhere and seem to be making more noise even though attention didn’t get a PAK yet. aespa blew up massively last year after Next Level and they were mentioned everywhere too and saw a massive increase in their fandom.
Gidle is the first group I’ve seen get a National Hit and it not really translating to the groups popularity? It’s weird tbh, you’d expect them to blow up the same way IVE and aespa did coming off their National Hits.
That’s the difference between real group popularity coming off a hit song and trending for months afterwards vs a song that people love but don’t really care to check the group out.
You cant really compare because Karina has not had any solo opportunities yet but imo she has more IT factor since she is actually talented. Wonyoung is super popular but it's mostly for her visuals let's be honest that's all people ever talk about lol.

They had songs in the past that charted but none of them were really smash hits, more like moderate hits with mediocre longevity. However Tomboy came out and that song exploded.
But just compare their popularity post Tomboy to IVE’s popularity post Love Dive and you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. It’s giving Love Scenario by Ikon in the sense that the song is now bigger than the group itself.

Well who knows what kind of song BP will comeback with and whether the GP will eat it up to the extent they usually do. I mean this time last year nobody in their right mind would ever think aespa a 7 month old rookie group would outchart BTS, the biggest group in Korea, but it happened when Next Level surpassed Butter so it is definitely possible.
It honestly boils down to the quality of song and it’s longevity factor, hype can only get you so far.
I think it’s too late for ITZY to regain their once top spot, heck even the top 3 GG spot for 4th Gen. They have had way too many misses now with like what 4 comebacks in a row? The longevity of their songs is one of the worse when compared to other popular 4th Gen GG’s.
I genuinely think the concept switching back and forth is what is hindering them and also the song choices. Like how do you go from Not Shy to Mafia to Loco to Sneakers…it’s a whole mess identity and concept wise.
It’s shocking to me they haven’t had a top 5 hit since their debut Dalla Dalla especially when JYP GG’s were known as digital monsters (Twice, Miss A etc). It seems a new era is rushing in over the new JYP GG’s because NMIXX completely flopped too.
aespa and Gidle are both doing well as they have good stability and longevity and then you have IVE, Le Sserafim and NewJeans out charting and selling just as many albums if not more than ITZY/NMIXX even though they all debuted recently.
ITZY feels like they are already past their prime. NMIXX are still super young and their only hope now is for JYP to change up their concept and give them good public friendly music going forward otherwise I feel they’re gonna get left behind in the 4th Gen GG race.
