That's entirely subjective. Some may dislike this experimental music, but on the flip side, others may dislike "generic" music. I think both creative directions have their place in the industry.
You may criticize them now for giving their artists these "different" songs, but the moment they pursue a route that trends alongside other companies, you'll see that many will also disparage them for it.
Everytime their music is bad everyone calls it experimental

that's quite funny
because in 1 year, SM released Invu, FMR, Illusion, Girls, step back, Forever 1, Candy, who are all songs who did well and reach the top 10
but because suddenly they don't like one song SM is suddenly outdated, like we get it every year it's the same thing
they said the same thing when GOT released step back and they end up eating in SM hands 2 mins later '-'
But the thing is
If people nowadays want to hear good music SM is not the first destination thats why they believe that SM is outdated and not trendy anymore.
Like if i had to choose between the release between aespa or new jeans i would type new jeans as fast as i can cause i know that new jeans released bops after bops
Or red velvet against blackpink, i think the majority would choose blackpink cause they expect the music quality to be better
Nowadays people listen to a lot of music but the thing is the music needs to be listenable and not to difficult to catch up

2022 was YGE's year, there is no question about it. 8 bops from BP, 1 from Ikon, and 2 from Treasure.
JYP was the worst, they came in fourth last year. NMIXX did badly, Itzy had 1 good song Sneakers, and Twice had 1 good song Queen of Hearts. SKZ single was mixed.
Hybe and SM are sorta tied for second place. SM had higher peaks with Invu, Forever1, and Feel My Rhythm, all 9s but Aespa's songs werent it this year, neither were NCT or SJ or Shinee. And Candy was a remake so not sure it should count for 2022.
OTOH the only Hybe song that reaches a 9 is Impurities, but there are more mid level (ranking 5 to 7 out of 10) songs from them like Hybe Boy, Attention, Blue Flame, Fearless, AF, etc. Good Parts might even be an 8. OMG ranges from 4 to 9 but it's a 2023 release.

New jeans and lesserafim hard carried hybe while the bgs sucked but still hybe had 2022
New jeans had everyone gasp with their songs quality and their group aura
Lesserafim had a few controversies but clearly they have a massive fandom
Blackpink, Treasure and BigBang made YG look so effortless cool i mean Pink Venom and Shut down were incredible internationally; Treasure surpised everyone and now they are one if the hottest groups rising and BigBang broke records without teasers lol
Jype reached my expectations and they were not so high. Nmixx just gave me major wtf moments, i forgot about twice, skz has a cb every 2 months so i don‘t even pay attention no more
Sm was funny cuz while everyone is dead serious into turning the competitions on their side and trending there was SM who gave their groups so questionable songs like they cant even compete girl. Aespa is basically out of the Question who will rule 4th Gen: it is either NewJeans, Ive or Babymonster who stepped in
GG should have made a legendary comeback a la bigbang but everyone was left speechless
GOT gave everyone chills out of cringe
Nct has so many units i cant even catch up
