This....but some people are so hell bent on making this about Hybe = Bang = BTS = Armys hateboner that they keep coming in here posting dumbass shady troll takes and leaving.

Yep there's precedent. With SM last year as well, everyone thought HYBE was the evil corp trying to steal SM away from Lee Sung-soo family. Turns out HYBE is the victim and SM were all crooks and conducted stock manipulation with Kakao.

HYBE is just bad at PR.

They should have just gave MHJ 2 options internally to either find investors to buy the remaining shares of the company at a price way above the market value or leave if she can't find the investors/gather the funds resign from the company.

I agree with New Jeans stans. Let MHJ take New Jeans amd go. That will be one less group not using BTS connections and resources and just in time before their 2025 comeback when BigHit will go all out especially for their biggest stadium world tour to date.

I agree, it'll just be a poison chalice if hybe keeps it without MHJ.

HYBE doesn't have any emotional attachment to NWJNS except potentially making them a shitload of $$$.

I think they should offer it up in the market/ give time for MHJ to get enough investors to buy it at a premium for 30% above market value or something. If she is unable to get the funds then tough luck, kick her out.

That should have been the solution from the beginning.

i feel like there vocals were not good + they were screaming. but some of the critizism is so unnecessary, blame hybe for not having better vocal trainers .

What's done is done, impossible to change people's opinion now after they have made up their mind.

I think technical issues/mics not working properly kinda forced them to shout/scream. Nerves plus not being vocally talented enough just made everything worse.

They probably practiced in a controlled environment like a studio and sounded fine (acceptable) and thought it'll be the same during the actual show. Rookie mistake.

I don't know. Titles like nation's embarrassment and being known as dogshit singers by basically the entire nation is kinda hard to shake off.

They are only a 2 yo group, not sure they have built a big enough fandom to endure all the bad publicity yet. I also don't trust hybe/source music to keep supporting them. They dropped Gfriend real quick, can do the same to LSFM.

But it will be interesting to see if they can overcome this and be stronger/get more popular. Hoping they can surprise me.

Why tf ur asking me if you can't even read the previous replies by icyruios and kpl that I'm replying to? Please leave the discussion to the ones who already know what they're arguing about

I've read enough. All this talk about hybe privilege, trying to diminish their results as in-organic.

But failing to mention all the other competitors also had their own privileges and somehow they are more organic.

    Hypocrisy at its best.

I meant the fashion stuff, the focus on spotify, mass promo at febut to make maximum almost a 'shock' first impact, even their post debut schedule is somehow similar to NJ trying to replicate their viramity or smth. Whatever...

There was no shock with Illit. The promos already started way before debut which is the opposite of newjeans. Before their debut, there were already multiple posts about their music on here.

The focus is also not only on Spotify. They are charting well on Melon and everywhere else. Only the fans are focusing on spotify.

As for post debut schedule, other than attending music shows, what else is similar?

    even the marketing strategy

NJs released their MVs with no announcement, no teasers and it was not available for streaming until a month later. They are currently releasing some CF fusion Jap/korea/english song before including it in their next comeback next month.

Their MV's usually are also longer with some sort of overarching story.

Illit releases are more traditional, multiple teasers. 1 MV for the title song only. The promotional strategy is completely different.

The only similarities I see are that they are both 5 members, young girls, similar age. Music are more chill instead of hard hitting girl crush songs.

This isn't a fair comparison as kpop is much more popular globally these days. So globally its obvious newjeans will be more popular globally compared to SNSD ever was.

Looking at just South Korea, I think newjeans has the bigger peak compared to 2009/10 SNSD. Alot of people is comparing SNSD in hindsight after 7 years of growth and improvements against only the first year of NJS. But the question is 2009/10 SNSD when they were still noobies.

The thing about snsd's success is it's not just all about their group success but it translated also to the members. Yoona became IT girl, Sunny and sooyoung became variety queens, taeyeon became the ost queen.

I think GG opened more doors to fans being interested in KPOP music and with them being touted as "South Korea's / Nation's Girl Group" at one point in time, their popularity had sky-rocketed.

NJS is also starting to get alot of CFs/OSTs and there are lots of potential for the girls to grow and improve. They are brand ambassadors to luxury brands and selling out whatever they are advertising.

Everyone is dancing to Hype Boy similar to Gee back in the days.
