Ive is popular in korea and koreans don't use spotify. They use Melon and youtube music.
Spotify is not that relevant in the grand scheme of things. Its just something stans boast about when a group does well on it.

It could really be something as simple as some people in that group being a stan of Newjeans or something. Who knows.
I just think its a combination of all the following:
One things for sure, I doubt its some sort of fee where anyone can just pay to be on the TTH playlist.
How dare they go on trips like this:
The company should be working them to the bone with new music releases every other week and world tours at the same time.
Plenty of content, all within the last 3 months:
What hiatus?
Ofc there are fans who wants stadium so that they'll have a bigger chance to see their faves. The bigger the venue, the bigger the chance to buy tix. And there are other fans who just want to brag about stadiums
I actually prefer smaller concerts. It feels more intimate and there's more chance the singers will notice you.
A stadium concert is just meh to me. Unless you're paying top dollar to sit in the front section, you'll be too far away to see anything and watching from the screen. May aswell stay at home and watch on youtube.
I remember watching a youtube clip a few years ago where IU mentioned that she'd prefer performing in smaller venues as there's less pressure. But smaller venues also means less people can go. Arenas are just a good trade off.
I find it funny how people how people find it surprising Iu is selling out arenas overseas.
This is IU's first concert overseas since like debut? The arenas only have 10-20k seats max. There are huge Korean communities in America. Iu is huge in the Asian communities of course it will sell out lol.
This is why the Korean charts still matters alot. You dont need to chart on billboard or something to sell out arenas overseas. Even Ive is selling out arenas and they only debuted 2 yrs ago.
But now people are over hyping about selling out stadiums lol.
Stadiums are a whole different ballpark. Can't just convert an arena concert to a stadium. She'll have to redesign the whole concert to make it enjoyable in a 100k stadium. There are minimum standards that iu will want to meet. This tour was designed for 10-20k arenas. Even in Korea it's done in arenas.
To be honest I don't think he was too involved with the music. He didn't compose the songs directly and only requested some words to be included in the lyrics.
The songs will still be the same, with some lyrics about kwangya and tree planting. Welcome to my world will probably have some lyrics about tree planting and drama will be about bringing drama into kwangya or something.
He was more in charged of general direction and themes which takes time to change. The next group that debuts will be when his footprint will be gone.
which is why I said argue over the numbers and method and criteria and the rest will sort itself out...
You can create a whole thread just on the criteria (Youtube views, tours, streams, awards, complicated formulas etc) and still noone will come into an agreement on the criteria that should be used.
why doesn't someone use numbers and criteria to back it up
This thread in summary:
NJ fans: these numbers show Nj was more popular.
Twice fans: They were diff eras, numbers inflated and don't matter. Twice were more popular based on our feelings.
In the end twice fans will vote for twice and NJ fans will vote for NJ. No matter what you show or say won't change anyone's mind.
Just this month.
Does this have anything to do with the whole "Taylor Swift song but sung by Michael Jackson" AI trend on TikTok?
Nah more likely, UMG seeing how big tik tok is getting and wanting a bigger share of their profits.
In the end its always about the $$$.
If Tiktok is willing to pay more, they may reach an agreement or it could drag out.
Your point about people not talking about touring as much back in 2016-2019 is dumb as touring wasn’t as big of a factor
The issue here is touring is usually only relevant for mature groups that have build up a sustainable fan base and released a huge backlog of songs.
But to hijack threads or creating threads boasting about Twice tour numbers and outright stating that achievements from groups that are less than 2 yrs old are fraudulent just cause they can't get the same tour numbers is just downright pity behavior.
You don't see blinks or armies doing this, they will boast that they paved the way etc but thats it.
