I bet 95% of those kpop stans that got triggered by that verse didn't even read the full lyrics or even made an attempt to understand what he's really talking about. People are really stupid...

But then armys be like my oppar is Shakespeare of lyricism and we need phd in quantum mechanics to get what he akhtuallly means
And this is why kpop stans will never beat the allegations of not understanding lyrics beyond onomatopoeias. Yeah, heaven forbid someone write about their own feelings and struggles without kpoppies calling them a sell-out. Don't worry, you weren't his target audience in the first place, please stick to your tunes and shallow lyrics.

I mean, he's spilling facts. I don't even expect kpop fans to use their brains to understand what he really means, we all know lyrics are a myth for some, reading comprehension even more so.

OK KING AGUST D, TIME TRAVEL AU COMING THROUGH, he be slaying every era!!

True. Let's be honest, both groups care about charting in some way or another. Artists do in general, especially in kpop, like who wants to release a song that flops? And if by some miracle they don't, the companies sure do. That's why you have promo, different album versions, remixes, spotify deals etc. to boost the songs/album in the charts. This argument is so pointless.

So why must they always lie with BTS? Is that always what their code of conduct as "journalists" should be like? It doesn't make any sense and this is repeatedly done against BTS. You would think BTS ran over their dogs the way these people report info.
Because BTS are the standard, they were the first kpop group to really breakthrough in the US market and smash record after record. Also the media caught on pretty fast that BTS equals clicks and ratings. It's frustrating, both for armys and other fandoms when the media can't help but mention BTS whenever they talk about a kpop group.
As for Corden, I wouldn't be so concerned. If anyone wants to run away with this misinformation then they can do so at their own embarrassment, it's not like the guy can rewrite history.

One thing I've noticed about the international media, especially us, is that they love to pit these two groups against each other, it being shade, misinformation, trolling etc. you name it. As if fanwars aren't enough, they just add fuel to the fire...

BTS is not signed under any US label, they only have a distribution deal with UMG. This is basically why the industry is blacklisting them, because they can't capitalize over BTS' success and make money off of them.
With both 'Dynamite' and 'Butter' the promo situation was different because the songs were produced by some big names from Columbia (the label BTS had a distribution deal prior to signing with UMG) and it was in their best interest to promote the songs.

I won't even bother to read all the pages but when will y'all finally learn to let of the GP and the narrative that they do most of the work and keep an artist afloat?
It's not the GP filling concert halls and buying the music, 80% of the work is hard carried by the fandom. We've seen plenty of one hit wonders not only in k-chats but also international, you can be the talk of the town for 15 minutes then the GP will move on to the next thing. GP doesn't bring in any money, the fandom does. Why would a label target the GP, which is already an unreliable market instead of giving fans what they want and make profit...

I didn't scour anything, I already knew he was Asian and it was a #1 song. I can find more examples if you'd like.
BTS has managed to secure a very large... niche fanbase. There's still very little mainstream interest in them from the American general public. Bulk buying & streaming from a small but passionate fanbase is exactly how a niche act like them have found the success they have on the charts and even on radio, not because they reached an entirely new audience who loves them just as much as their core fanbase. Most people still don't care. You don't have to like it, but it's true. So I understand the pushback against these measures by their fans who want to continue making them look more popular than they actually are, but I also understand the pushback against just that. Billboard should have had such measures in place decades ago.
You're contradicting yourself. In a previous post you said that Billboard doesn't hand number ones like candy but somehow a 'small and niche fandom' is able top the charts solely by bulk buying? Then why isn't anyone able to do so, especially in kpop since no fandom is stranger to bulk buying? I think that's a coping mechanism because your favorites are not being able to chart well in us.
Billboard has put these measures in practice because the industry doesn't like it that they cannot control and capitalize their success.
Radio and streaming payola is prevalent in the music industry today, yes, even for your most well known artists. The difference is that one is pushed by their label and one by their fans.
Army is a huge fandom and a good chunk of it, including me, is made of people with no prior knowledge or interest in kpop. We were the GP once.

Comments here are ridiculous, as if we're not talking about the same kpop industry with 20+ album versions to boost sales or streaming parties and mass buying.
Most western acts chart high or have longevity because of radio payola (streaming services are no stranger to this either). I'd rather have fans buy the music than forcefully shove it someone's throat.

ngl I'm not feeling this song, which is a shame since 'People' is one of my favourite songs. I'm not a huge fan of IU so that might also explain it....

What a piece of trash. From what I understand, a lot of them blame alcohol just so they can get away with a lighter sentence.
If they reveal the abuser in this case, the victim name will also come out.
So I'm not sure, is there a way to protect the victim's privacy?
The sad thing is he'll probably get away with a slap on his wrist and go on with his life. As much as I'd like them to reveal the name of this trash and make sure he never shows his face in public, the victim and their feelings come first.

CONGRATS TO JIMIN AND ARMYS!!!CAN't BELIEVE THIS IS ACTUALLY REAL!! WE DID IT!!! WELL DESERVED KING!!

I actually haven't seen that particular variety in the store. I just grabbed the pic. I'm definitely gonna look for it now though!
My fave seaweed snack is the tempura fried kind though.
I'm jealous, I can only find a limited selection of seaweed snacks and those mostly plain. Gotta do some digging and see what I can find online.

They've gained in popularity in non-asian stores in the last few years as well. I can find them in my local supermarket and at Target.
I don't live in US, I can only find them in asian stores or online but whoa, those look good. I'd love to try the brown sugar one, never heard of it before.
