Its kind of interesting how kpoppies need to put together the impact of a whole bunch of groups to compare them to BTS and even then they dont measure up.

TVXQ paved the way to Japan. Big Bang did exactly what that other 1st and 2nd gen artists didnt do?

BTS paved the way to the rest of the world outside of Asia, their impact on Korean economy is measuarable in quantities that actually show up on graphs, they are the ice braker for Korean politicians and diplomats when talking to foreign heads of state, theyre the only indications that anything other than Kim Jonh Un even exists in the Koreas in many countries media, they have the biggest idol group hit in Korea and theyre the only idol group ever to win more than one KMAs daesang. And all of that is nicely recognized in their Order of Cultural merit, the Van Fleet award and the many times they have been named as the most influencial entity in Korean entertainment, something that has never happened to an idol group before.

It means kpop was nonexistant on global scale, not including Korea, Japan, China, which dont use Google much.

I dont listen to any other groups discography. I have liked more than one song from GFriend, Twice, TXT, Blackpink. I think thats it.

The concept of "Han" is something that presents in their lyrics, in their journey as a group (hardworking, humble beginnings, always trying to improve, etc), and the way they act/present themselves. EXO has just as much chances to blow up as BTS did, even more since they started off with huge Asian promos, while BTS started with nothing. They didnt blow up, because people dont like EXO or their music. Theyre a stereotypical boyband, with nothing to set them apart. BTS had something special, they resonated with people, thats why they beame successful. BTS has the artistry, the literary references, the songs about something else than love and partying, the charisma and charm, the participation in creative processes, the sincerity, the diverse music that doesnt stagnate, the lack of typical roboticness of many kpop groups. Thats why they appeal to people who are not usual kpop target demographic and that more widespread appeal is why they ended up with more fans.

Not that we need more proof, but....

BTS and Day6 are the only idol groups with songs in top 20.

Now Big3 also has the advantage of more connections in the west with western labels.

When western labels started to sign kpop groups after BTS's success, they specifically started cooperating with big3, I remember western execs even explicitly saying they wanted to collab with the bigger companies.

Smaller companies dont have the connections and they also dont have the money to throw at western promo.

Big3 stans also distrort kpop history for western fans. They exaggerate the impact of big3 groups. For example somehow SNSD Japanese impact is much more known than KARA, because of SM stans.

Yeah, I can see theres a better translation here, where they specify stock swap. The "stock exchange" is very confusing, since it could mean buying from stock exchange.

I can see how they could have synergies.

Women can be empowering in a male dominated industry if they subvert expectations, not if they nicely stay in the box men put them in. Usually they also support other women, mentor, participate in industry female-focused groups etc.

I am kind of confused about how Naver buying BH stocks proves cooperation? Noone is preventing them from buying stocks off the market. It looks pretty one sided right now.

Are there any statements from Naver or BH on this or its just speculation?

BP isnt any more about female empowerment than AKB48. AKB actually has more empowering lyrics.

BP seems to be usually about putting down other women.

But theyre not to blame, its not like they write the lyrics. The whole "female empowerment concept" idea seems very sketchy anyway, if the ones performing it have no input and no agency. You cant be a victim being "mistreated", who isnt even allowed to drive, and an empowered woman simultaneously. Its appropriation of actual feminism, used by sexist men, to make money.
