Racism against Asian looking artists. Dont matter if you're born here or from Asia, nobody will listen to you for whatever reason. Asian actors can get hits, Asian athletes can do well, but for some reason when it comes to music, it's a No Fly Zone.

The only Asian musical acts that transcend niches are the ones that are mixed and are coded as something else. Bruno's mom is FIlipino but he is never coded as that, most folks think he is Latino. Same with Olivia whose dad is Filipino, everyone assume she's Latino. Paak is always seen as a black artist, not an Asian one. And it goes on and on.

MHJ disgusts me yet i have no problem giving NewJeans songs like OMG and Bubblegum 10 out of 10 ratings.

MYs on TW disgust me yet i called Next Level the most impactful song in recent history, an 11 out of 10, and gave Supernova its flowers as on of the best songs of 2024 with even Whipcrack or whatever it's called growing on me.

3rd gen is finished. Not sure why Blinks think BP is immune to this. BP will become a legacy group just like their 3rd gen sisters. Remember they're the youngest of the 3rd gen leaders so it makes sense for them to hold on the longest to GP popularity. But even this has started to fade. Jisoo made no impact, Lisa never made an impact in SK, and Rosie was buttressed by Bruno.

I agree. Part of the reason (besides work) that i took a hiatus is because i didnt want to pollute the board with TW level toxicity.

MYs, Blinks and Dives on TW are horrendous, the worst of all Kpop fandoms tbh. But here, their fans are good even hilarious at times. Esp the Aespa stans, so chill compared to the TW monstrosities.

Only a few of the Tokkis here (namely the aforementioned names) approach the toxicity of TW.

AKP Onces, Blinks, Dives, Mys, Army, Reveluvs, Nevies, etc are just fine.

Watching BPHouse for the first time. I still remember just how adorable Lisa was. My gateway into Kpop.

SM is the trashiest company in all of Kpop and no one is even close tbh. When you hear the words "treating their idols like pieces of meat" that literally personifies SM to a tee.

What i hate is the hypocrisy of this. A ton of stans of various fandoms went all in on the anti-Hybe hate train using fake plagiarism accusations. Now those same stans are twisting themselves into knots trying to defend against actual plagiarism just because it was committed by their faves' sister.

Friendly Rivalry is very tame by local standards, it's just we're so used to being weird or naive af about this stuff esp when it comes to Kpop idols. We acting like they never went through puberty, never watched porn, never learned about sex in school or from friends/siblings, etc.

Also, i'm seeing some pretty damn racy clips for a drama set in high school that shocked me a bit. I'm def not one of the weirdos that infantilize high schoolers (esp Korean/Asian ones) and pretend they dont date or *GASP* have sex, but K Dramas are renowned for their lack of sexy content even when the characters are my age ffs. I dont remember a single racy scene in 20 hours of Hotel Del Luna for example.

Ive losing impact internationally is more than made up for by them regaining impact in Korea.

I think these Knetz are doing way too much, Ive will be just fine. And even if i'm wrong and Ive were to surprisingly start sliding in Korea, all Starshit would have to do is break out Yujin and Wonyoung with solo debuts and they would get TONS of hype - they would easily join Izone sisters Yena, Eunbi, and Chaeyeon as the only 4th gen soloists to chart.

Yep. This is the first and only Kdrama i watched the whole way through and it was because of IU shocking the hell out of me with her performances. She is a far better actor than vocalist tbh, she deserved Emmys for Hotel.

Ive started 4.5 gen as Izone's first daughter group, then came NMIXX, NJ, and LSRFM.

Illit, Baemon, Moew, Kisslife, Izna are considered 4.75 generation. Kiii or Heart could be the first 5th gen group, depending on who goes viral and becomes popular.

As for overkill, every year people say that yet every year, it's always a Kpop song that tops the charts. Trot, OSTs, hip hop, indie, no other genre can compete with Kpop popularity in Korean music charts.

Not bad for a b side. Illit really killed it, they easily had the best promoted singles this year (Cherish/Magnetic/TickTack with all of them right at the 9-10 out of 10 level.

She does have the best discography of all soloists tbh since her debut in 2022. Have you heard all her stuff? Songs like Smartphone and Hate Rodriogo are literal 10 out of 10 but are criminally underappreciated, esp that Rodrigo song with slow witted weirdos not understanding the title was literal tongue in cheek.

Also her amazing B sides, these two are also literally 10 out of 10s.
