Most popular Korean music act in history tbh. They were beating even IU on Melon charts before they had to stop and go to military and then Burning Sun happened. Hell IU even had the biggest crush on Taeyang apparently , there are some cute videos of her swooning over him lol.

However, the title of "best boy group" is more subjective and isnt about charts. Their music was very overrated. They had one of the best BG songs of alltime, Bangbangbang, a decent Fantastic Baby, and an older remix/cover song that i cant remember the title of. That's it.

Even Treasure has had more bops than BB tbh.

Wut? Stock price has nothing to do with MHJ lol. The entire industry is tanking. When BTS comes back, nobody will care about this dramamamama.

MHJ is finished. She can be fired at anytime, her win in the injunction ruling was a pyrrhic victory all it did was say that Hybe had to pay her buyout if they wanted to fire her pending further rulings.

Hybe will get rid of her one way or another ASSUMING that the leaks are all true, she looks like a professional liar and a nutjob, Bang ends up looking dumb for trusting her but that's about it.

Every voice that tried to screw over Hybe has already gotten their share of Lesserakarma. SM, Kakao, only MHJ is left.

By this time next year, MHJ will be gone, New Jeans will be managed by Teddy under a contract with Hybe (Izna and Rose are examples), and Ive will be under Bang Pd.

I dunno maybe i'm feeling randomly emo today but her few bits in the trailer really got to me.

I just found out more about this show on Wiki - it's literally one of the most well regarded TV shows and probably Apple TV's most acclaimed prestige drama.

I wonder how she nabbed the role, hopefully this is Teddy's connections bearing fruit for her or maybe her own that she made over the years. It's genius marketing though, the song, her vocals, and the trailer.

I am hopeful that mah Izone actors also get roles in this for season 3 Minju, Hyewon, and Yuri's agents need to be calling up APPLE TV like yesterday

PS - One of my grandfathers lived in Japan after WWII for business. Never really knew him tbh, i met him like three times my whole life. But he probably could have related very well to this story

Problem is Babymon songs are mid, not terrible, but just kinda meh or decent at best. They're ass compared to some of the recent boygroup songs from Ikon and Treasure and even Chanhyuk.

KIOF fans are gettin' way too brave on TW regarding their group's mid vocals and talents. Natty is singlehandedly carrying them. Idle fans generally are cool, i rarely see them on the offensive they only strike when attacked. Dives, Tokkis, Blinks and Mys are the worst and always attack first.

I think this is just a fun little summer thing, not like an official awards or end of year gayo lol. The stages were a lot nicer than your typical music show so that made it worthwhile tbh.

The chances of success for GG idols who move on to solo careers is like 1 in 10000. Think of all the current GG groups and disbanded ones. Think of all the members from these groups who came out with solos. Then think of how many of the soloists managed to maintain a level of success that was even remotely close to their group's success. Taeyeon, Sunmi and Hwasa the only ones out of literally HUNDREDS of Kpop soloists.

Nope, over 5 years into Kpop and still going strong. This year's song quality is definitely a step below 2020-2023, which were peak years, and more on par with 2019 which was pretty weak overall. But overall, my interest level hasnt changed. The first couple years were all about Twice and BP, then i discovered Izone in 2020-2021 and have been obsessed with them even to this day. Recently i discovered Oh My Girl's amazing discography.

She IS Aespa. I know Mys might hate it but i bet SM could replace the other members with three rando trainees and Aespa would still have the same popularity within Korea.

Tribe deserves better, they just came out with back to back hits in We Are Young last year and Diamond this year which is a 10 out of 10. Hopefully they go viral like Eunbi.

People dont stan talent though. I wont derail the thread with my opinions on Kpop "vocals" lol, but suffice it to say that groups don't get popular because they sound like Whitney or dance like Michael. People stan visuals and personalities and It Girls, GP stans songs, and virality and luck and timing play a huge role as well.

Even if you drill down to the level of individual groups, very rarely does the idol who can sing the best end up as the most popular even just within the group, let alone the entire kpop industry. Look at mah girl Yuri who is Izone's main vocal, she isnt even top 5 within the group, while Chaeyeon is Izone's and Kpop's best dancer but still ranked in the lower half of Izone.

You could put 99 percent of Kpop idols in the C- to C+ range. That's why proppping up your own faves or shading rival vocals is just plain nutso, y'all are all literally on the same tier, the difference between your faves and them is almost indistinguishable.

Only a few really stand out like mah girl Yuri, Karina, etc.
