How would you rank Aespa vocally among other SM groups?

    As a group, I would put Aespa up there as one of SM's most vocally well-rounded groups.

    As individuals, Karina and Winter are much better than other lead and sub vocals in SM but Ningning is probably the worst main vocal in SM


    Compared to their other girl groups:


    Main vocals:

    Luna > Taeyeon > Wendy >> Ningning


    Lead Vocals

    Winter > Seulgi > Seohyun > Tiffany > Krystal


    Sub-Vocals (leaving out SNSD and f(x) there's too many to rank)

    Joy = Karina > Giselle > Irene > Yeri


    Overall:

    Red Velvet = Aespa > SNSD > f(x)


    Re-watching the performance, Ningning was really good at certain points during Coachella but also pitchy and unstable during other parts. They were on stage for all of 12 minutes so that's not really a good indication of her stamina. I would have put Aespa over RV because Giselle and Karina are better than Irene/Yeri but I think the gap between Wendy and Ningning puts them at equal positions actually

    SNSD is by far the best vocal gg in SM. Taeyeon is the best singer and Tiff, Seo, Sun are better than other leads. SNSD have constantly shown they have some of most difficult choreography and still sound great live.


    Fx Luna is excellent and Krystal is decent but nothing special. Amber could sing decently but she mostly stuck to rapping.


    Wendy is excellent and Seulgi is very good but still below SNSD leads.


    Ning Ning is the weakest main of the four (still good singer overall) and Winter is less the Seulgi. Probably equal or better thanKrystal.


    SNSD > Red Velvet > fx/Aespa.

    Snsd are the best vocal gg in sm and i would rank aespa after them.Snsd have 4 people that can be main vocalists i don't know how u're putting them after aespa and rv.

    As a group it's

    SNSD - aespa - rv - fx

    yes Wendy is better than current Ningning but that's about it. Ningning and Winter are better than Seulgi and Karina is better than Joy with Giselle being either on the same or just below Joy. fx was hard carried by Luna lol anyone that says other wise is a dirty liar ^^

    the problem is that SNSD and red velvet have a strong vocal line but some very average vocalist


    meanwhile you have Aespa with a strong vocal line (i don't think aespa vocal line is as strong than snsd vocal or rv vocal line) but they are close

    what really change is the level of their sub vocalist, and considering Karina is easily a lead vocal level

    and Giselle is a pretty good vocalist too


    i think my ranking would be


    Aespa > Red velvet = SNSD >>>>>> f(x)

    Yuri is actually a abive average singer. The only weak singers in SNSD are Yoona and Hyoyeon but they can at least sing confidently live (solo or in group) which is more than ggs these days who have rouble singing live


    Meanwhile Fx had Victoria and Sulli who were weak


    Red Velvet have Joy who is average and Yeri is weak.


    Aespa have Gisellle and Karina who are average or weak

    Pitchy and unstable is normal for a debut rookie -- she was the only one with strong support and pitch can suffer at first. Aespa songs are much harder than any other group here too . Taeyeon had pitchy moments at debut, but not with SNSD songs, with harder songs.


    Main vocals:

    Lina > Luna > Taeyeon > Wendy > Bada > Dana > Ningning > Jessica > Hyunjin


    But at debut it was

    Wendy >> Luna > Taeyeon > Dana > Lina/Ningning > Bada (yes I know) > Jessica > Hyunjin


    Most SM main vocals improve dramatically after debut. Lina debuted similar level and became the best vocalist in SM. It's not a huge deal.


    Lead Vocals

    For lead vocals Seulgi is much better than Winter. It's just that Seulgi has bad tongue tension where Winter does not but Seulgi is improving while Winter is...doing the opposite so.

    Stephanie > Seohyun (debuted better than Winter/Seulgi and basically was a 2nd main vocal by the end) >> Seulgi > Winter/Tiffany > Sunny > Sunday > Krystal/Amber > rest

    2 of Aespa's sub vocals could fit in here though...



    Sub-Vocals

    Karina is actually much better than Krystal and Amber and closer to Sunny. Giselle is Amber level.

    Karina > Yuri > Giselle > Sooyoung > Joy > Irene > Yeri > rest



    It's unfair to improve debut and current groups though.

    Debut SNSD was very different from SNSD now. Taeyeon, Sunny, and Seohyun improved where Tiffany (improved after SM), Sooyoung, Yuri and Jessica did not.


    Luna improved, Amber could have if they made her stop rapping, Krystal, Victoria and Sulli did not.


    In Red Velvet, Wendy and Irene did not improve (to be fair Wendy was fully developed before debut) where Seulgi (recently -- I think she's going to have a solo), Joy and Yeri did.


    In CSJH Lina was the only one who improved, and everyone else regressed. They had much harder songs than Aespa/Aespa-level songs.


    In SES and MILK Bada/Hyunjin were the only ones who could sing, but Eugene has improved tremendously now.


    In terms of who has the best vocals. Its easily CSJH > SNSD > Aespa > RV > F(x)

    Karina and Giselle are stronger than Yuri...Yuri was good at debut but her bodyshaming had a bad toll on her.

    THe hell are you on about? Yuri had got own solo album and she sounded even better than at debut. She's 100% better singer than Karina and Giselle


    And what body shaming? When did she ever shame others? If anything she was shamed by others because she got really skinny and people called her a skeleton then when she gained more weight people called her fat.
