I find this to be better conveyed in books than today's movies though. Some adaptations do make good use of it, but most of the "blockbuster" films seem kind of watered down in that aspect because they are very plot driven at the expense of the characters IMO

None of Emma's movies are as good as the book
She also has some sarcastic novels that are never made to movies
