I’d like to say that by unstanning a group I don’t mean to stop supporting or listening to x’s music,I mean to basically stop being part of the community and following x’s every step in their career (not to *that* extreme btw).I’m not going to further explain my opinion since i believe with that being stated you can understand my point. Also I’m general I feel we all have different perspectives about what the word “Stan” means but that is a topic for another day.
Unstanning a group because of it’s fandom is valid

I disagree that unstanning means stop being a fan. I think that unstanning is more like you stop calling yourself and associating with the fandom of the group/soloist. Like if I were to unstan Twice (in another lifetime) I would stop calling myself a ONCE but will continue to listen to the music, engage with the members.
I still believe you can be a casual fan or close to a stan but you just don't associate yourself with the fandom anymore.

I couldn't unstan simply because of bad fans, if that was the case I wouldn't be able to stan anybody. I'm an army and lots of people don't like us but I'll never be embarrassed or afraid to associate myself with the fandom like screw what people think. I'm an army because of BTS first and foremost.

I see that more as being a casual fan 👀
I understand what you mean though.

This is basically how I am with Star Wars. I still love the property, will watch as much content and try to give every entry a fair shake, but the fandom itself drains me that it's hard for me to interact with fellow fans on it.

I've heard of people doing this and it's alright. They're probably embarrassed by the fandom and don't want to be associated with the toxicity.
I think that every group is going to have bad apples, bigger ones that tend to make an impact on how other fandoms look at them. But I do feel like it's a valid reason to disassociate yourself from a fandom if you feel like you need to, even if it's for the bad apples. People get to decide the point when they call themselves a stan so people should be able to decide when it's time to cut themselves off from the fandom (even if you're still a fan of the music and the members)

Yeah but girl, you literally said
when someone says they're going to "unstan" a group, I assume they stop being a fan of that group 🤔
I may have misunderstood tho
