I forget context alot but other than that i'm quite alright.

I'm a native english speaker but trying to get your thoughts out in a serious matter is often hard via text. You can't decipher tone or meaning through text. Sometimes things are misunderstood or taken out of context because of that. It's a struggle when you are trying hard to get your point across but feels like you're not able to do so. Text sucks lol

Every few posts I have in fact a little stop to Wordreference to see if the expression I wanted to say it's actually right or I invented it.
I also have the feeling that I communicate like a little kid because I'm scared to mess up and people will not understand me, so I just do basic phrases.
Maybe I should've paid more attention to my english teacher when he made us do those argumentative writings, there was a reason why I did the worst on those

communincation is hard even in person and even if both people are natural speakers of that language let alone on a forum where it's predominately English where it may not be a person's native language coupled with the fact that all the non-verbal methods of communication is lost...

English isn't my native language so i do hesitate to participate in more serious discussions.
My English has also gotten noticeably worse since I graduated from highschool and it's honestly mortifying just how much I occasionally struggle to express even the most mundane things. I know exactly what I want to say but what comes out sounds like the ramblings of a caveman.
And while I'm sure people can tell that it's because I'm not native speaker, I still worry that they're going to think I'm stupid. Like, oh wow, so uneducated, can't even speak English properly. Because good, near native level English is just kind of expected nowadays, isn't it?
So yeah, I do write a lot of posts that I end up deleting because I feel like my English just isn't cutting it.

yes and English is my mother tongue. I also have a hard time gauging whether someone is joking or understanding their intent.
