For 3rd Gen. girl groups yeah that seems about right, for BGs the trinity has always been EBS based on the general public consensus and overall achievements; Exo, Bts, Seventeen.
For fourth Gen. GGs: Itzy, Aespa, Ive
For fourth Gen. BGs: they all seem to be around the same page, but for now I’ll say— Stray Kids, Txt, and Enhypen

for bg; I'm just gonna based it on how big the fandom is. So it's skz, txt and enhypen for now. I've noticed last year's voting season, those three are always on top. Treasure is also doing great in votings too but I checked the sales of their recent album in hanteo, it's only 570k+ which is pretty low compared to those three. This cb, their fandom grow a lot tho so maybe they'll do better in physical department for the next cb.

I get why BTS and EXO are mentioned for 3rd gen, but after that I feel there's a big wall and 3rd spot is far more contested.
And why are people mentioning IVE when they just debuted?
To put it differently:
3rd gen:
BTS >> EXO >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ? (could be NCT / Seventeen, gaps between those are minimal)
TWICE / BP >>>>> Red Velvet
and 4th gen:
Aespa >> ITZY > GI-dle / IZ*One

The gap between bts and exo is bigger than the gap between exo and other two.

Add another arrow between EXO and BTS if that makes you feel better.
But EXO had many years where they dominated the album sales, had multiple songs that ranked in Gaon's annual Top 100 charts and even in the Top 120 and were globally as well as in South Korea the most popular boy group alongside and even above Big Bang.
Seventeen and NCT can't even get into Gallup's list 1 year, let alone 8 years like EXO did.

You should get your facts straight. Polaroid love has much higher peaks on ALL Korean charts (melon, vibe,genie,apple music, Spotify music) they also have a much better longevity in Spotify global and the only thing darari beat Polaroid love in is the fact they have higher peak than them in Spotify global. Which isn't that admirable because the difference in streams is around 100k daily - two weeks old song having that small of a difference with two months old song is...
