Why waste on full albums

I don’t really understand the value in producing a full album in kpop. Bside music usually has hidden gems, but they’re definitely diamonds in the ROUGH. Like ROUGH ROUGH. People only pay attention to title tracks for the most part and buy an entire album for the title.

My question: why even make a full album and pay out all of those producers? Isn’t it more economical, especially knowing people are only paying for 3 max songs, to just only release EPS and Singles? Does it matter if it’s an LP or an EP? Would that really affect the album sales? And if anything they could put out more singles if they focused their attention on singles for production time. That’s my two cents.

Thank you to Red Velvet for consistently outdoing every title track with a bside, but you guys are wasting money

Full albums do feel like a waste in the streaming era when most artists can only chart the title track. But fans want a full album and you have to keep those fans satisfied, so you have to concede sometimes. It's all about managing casual listeners and fans at the same time.

but honestly the b-sides are where the artist throws all the experimental ones or rejected ideas often so ye they tend to be very interesting.

Kpop shouldn't always be about money anyway, who cares about spending more for producers + additional song costs? Releasing only singles will not make fans happy.

Unrelated, but (G)I-DLE don't even have to worry about their full album costs because they're their own producer.

I love every song Up10tion puts out, some more than others, and a ton are b-sides. Like Novella's b-sides are extremely amazing. Plus i love collecting the albums and everything that comes with it. Sometime a group will also promote a b-side along with the title track. I think whether it's a full album or mini album i would prefer those over a single album with 1 song. though i will buy anything my faves put out, but i get more value in a mini/full album rather than a single album. and sometimes a single album costs just as much as a full album and it's like...why..ugh

Well my favs make all the songs then decide which one should be title.

They dedicated alot of effort to every single song, as much as the title track.

so for me full album> mini and singles

I mean to be honest K-pop should only be about money. Like it was literally created to make more money for Korea, both long term as a method of soft power and short term as a method of exporting a good when Korea has a shortage of natural resources. And like………. Companies DO put hundreds of thousands of dollars into the groups….

Creating music is both a deliberate and experimental process. Producers and songwriters have to go through many songs to find one which is deemed impactful enough to be title track worthy. Why waste the songs which aren't title track material? Songs don't have to be impactful to be enjoyable. Why not just release some of those songs to see if they will bring in extra revenue and well as goodwill from existing fans?

Someone already mentioned concerts.
