Changed the title of the thread from “Dynamite is the BEST SELLING 2020 SONG in Japan (ORICON) from an idol group” to “Dynamite is the BEST SELLING 2020 SONG in Japan (ORICON) from an idol group (Digital downloads)”.
  • The OP is referring to downloads and you about physicals. You entered the wrong thread.

  • I do not know why you thought the OP meant physically if neither Dynamite or Make You Happy have physical releases to help chart on the physical or top single (streams + downloads + physicals) charts. Anyone who follows Japanese charts closely know that Dynamite and MYH were the two biggest idol group hits last year and comparing them to physical releases make no sense. For example, Step and a Step may have more units on the top single chart than MYH, but it is no where as big with the Japanese public as MYH (streams/downloads). Among the top 10 songs you listed from the combined singles chart, only 4-5 can be considered actual big hits while the rest are boosted from just physicals.

Even though Sixtones have 1.78M on the combined singles chart, only ~20K-30K is from non-physicals. Dynamite has 0 physicals but is about to surpass 1M units from just streams and downloads alone.

the original title of the thread does not specify it, in fact not even the tweet does
