Sponsored ad *within* a song now???

  • The only others I remember seeing the paid sponsorship on the MV is SuperM's One (Monster + Infinity) which I always thought was for the phones in the MV, but they don't have logos so idk what it was actually for. NCT 127 x Amoeba Culture's Save has it too, but there's literally nothing in the video and like two weeks later we found out it was a promo song for Samsung's storage service. ^^

Lol see, if it's not super obvious, i think it's fine. The coke lyrics and product placement pullede out of the song

  • it's probably because it's their debut

JYP Entertainment must got some deals done

Coca Cola probably wanted to continue co-operation after Niziu's Super Summer

    makes sense

take a picture was a massive hit

tap cm had like 10m views on yt

but it's been taken down on yt

...i want a coke for some reason

  • A number of SM MV's of around 2012-2014 (?) had an ad embedded in them, next to product placement like for a perfume and an app, iirc.

The embedded ad was the funniest, it was for Genie, and that did NOT end well when after a couple of years SM and Genie went their separate ways, and Genie became sort of part of the competition - that the SM MV's of those years are still advertising for ^^

  • Does ITZY dancing on top of Kia cars count? They did have a Kia sponsorship for Dalla Dalla.

And someone already mentioned the obvious sponsorship in Senorita by (G)I-DLE

  • i remember the random pop up ads built into the video from some earlier sm mvs, i think it's always been pretty common in kpop. just not to the extent of nmixx, it feels so cheap to do something that blatant for their debut.... as if jype isn't floating in money already.

The thing is though the ads in SM mvs were fucking annoying at least they were just there as almost an afterthought. However Nmix literally sing about coke and drink a can, it's very deliberate and in your face. It's off putting when a celeb is advertising when it's supposed to be something neutral.

  • Pepsi >> Coca-Cola

At least they make Starship produce good music :pepe-life-support:

  • You probably just noticed now because there was a warning, it’s actually pretty common lol itzy had Kia product placement in their debut song

It just shows how these kind of warning are necessary ^^

True, i think the warning has me looking for it but then I think I would've noticed the "coke zero" lyric anyway. It was such a clunker. They couldn't just have a coke machine in the shot behind them or something?

  • What is this? I clicked on the nmixx debut video and was shocked to find a "includes paid promotion" disclaimer on it. I was wondering if there was going to be a commercial attached to the video. But no. There's basically an ad for coke zero built into the video and even the song lyrics themselves. Now, I know groups have done commercials and even made special songs for sponsors. It's part of the business. Some of the songs even end up being cool. But is this the first time a title track for a group's regular release has been such an out and out ad? Have I just never noticed this happening before? Is this the final step towards full commercialization of music? Will all their songs be product sponsor related? I feel bad for song writers. I wish jyp had saved this for a special release. It being their debut is just off-putting imo.
