Aespa 2021 was huge like a mini twice 2016 but you didn’t see anyone scrambling to call them ngg besides some akp users
This title is outdated anyways thanks to the globalization of kpop
Really ngg title should be replaced with global girl group but that’s just my blink self talking 
By having ngg like songs and their innocent/fresh/clean image fit the standard. I haven’t seen another gg after them, who has had such features.
I can definitely see the terms evolving. Like I agree that the next leader will be more of a global leader, but I could see them still dubbing someone the ngg but maybe not a new gen group. Like if another Brave Girls situation happens in the future where a girl group is getting major promotion in just Korea, I could see them being dubbed a ngg. I think Korea has too much national pride to throw the term away completely.

Twice and SNSD didn't become ngg just because of their image, it was thanks to their image and the fact that the gp liked their songs
and it took them 1 year to both of them to reach this status
Izone was active for 2 years, and they never had a song who connect them to the gp, so i clearly don't think Izone ever had the potential to be a ngg
I think we don't see a NGG it's mostly because kpop is now focusing on overseas more than trying to make a name for themselves in Korea
so they doesn't connect to the koreans public like they used to do in 2016, considering that even their promotion are mostly made on internet through youtube content etc....
in this situation you can't get a ngg
Twice and SNSD reach this status thanks to their image, their songs but also by the fact that they connected with the public with different apparition on tv, SNSD was everywhere when Gee blow up and the old public got expose to the group thanks to all their variety show, same thing with Twice when cheer up blow up and shy shy shy become viral
You can't name someone a NGG when they don't ever care about connecting with the older audience and prefer to focus on internet content who's only targetting the young public

I’m only saying that izone had features that made them closest to the earlier nggs like snsd and twice. A big number of members, fresh songs without girl crush sound or concept and a big, dedicated fanbase. I’m not talking about their actual popularity, but their qualities that reminded me of the earlier nggs. Of course they were missing a hit song and their scandal really hit the nail in the coffin. But maybe they could have reached the status at some point.

it's outdated asf but if koreans call a 4th gen gg the new ngg then I'm fine with that. ppl have bashed bp in the past for not being ngg but they're the most popular gg in the world??? they're above that old title that nobody rlly takes srsly except on akp forums. for aespa, it's just a matter of whether or not koreans think that title is for them.
