I'm sad for the fans to up10tion won't be getting updated badges. I know several events have had some controversy. Maybe things would go more smoothly if voting was limited to petitioners and taglists to ensure that fandoms have the most say in these events.

As much as this would work, I still feel some users could be left out as they choose to be off group tag lists. But as long as they're tagged in voting by badge squad or have been a vocal fan of that group. The main issue stems from non-fans voting just to get their friends badges boosted. So your suggestion, as well as additionally tagging known fans, could totally work to avoid these controversies. It really is unfair to the fans of these groups, like Up10tion, in this case, to not get badges but also understand why the decision was made.

Exotics use two different tag lists. One for high importance or official news. The other for general exo posts. Maybe more fandoms could employ this method. That way fans could be on a taglist for important stuff without having to be inundated with a bunch of tags. No one who was truly interested would get left out then.
It's okay, I understand the announcement comes as it was the best decision. You guys as badge squad work so hard and it's very much appreciated. It's sad it had to come to this but totally understand why. The voting became very messy. Hope this serves as a learning experience for those involved. Keep up all the hard work lovie

I understand how in theory this thought process would work, but as stated it would leave some out as many users do enjoy groups here and want badges but do not like being tagged in things and having lots of notifications they did not want. I completely understand your thoughts though. Trust me there were hours of discussion before a decision was made regarding this.

The fact that there was a big enough issue to warrant cancellation of a badge event probably means there was some real immature crap going on. It's sad because Up10tion doesn't have a huge following so it'll be disappointing for the fans. If it happened to one of my fave's badge events, I would be sorely disappointed that people couldn't leave their petty personal issues out of it.
