How would you feel if in the future Enhypen leads 4th gen like Bts with 3rd gen, outdoing all groups in most metrics? Would you be celebrating their success? idrc but it's interesting to see how things have changed from 2019. Both ITZY & TXT were hailed as the 4th Gen Leaders/representatives, but as newer groups came & debuted they started to lose that grip they had over the new generation.
obviously they still lead in many metrics(TXT still has the highest peak for a 4th Gen BG on Spotify WW & on Melon, ITZY still #1 4th Gen GG on Spotify) but it's something to think about. Maybe they weren't 4th gen after all but 3.5 gen.

This was actually a pretty popular argument in 2019 why Itzy would never be the biggest girl group. Their debut was poorly timed. BP and Twice were both going strong and it would be at least a couple of years before either lost momentum, and at that time Itzy would be too old to build the hype necessarily to take over.
Turns out they were right.

Not arguing what generation txt or itzy are but you realise exo’s popularity was way more noticeable in the industry than theirs. They broke album records, had a national hit and were the biggest 3rd gen group for 5 years and the second biggest bg overall, out of all generations, for 7+ years. Was debatably the number one group for a short time. Txt and Itzy were barely the most popular 4th gen groups for a couple of years and have so far not challenged 3rd gen. (they’re super successful but their careers so far are not as impressive as exo’s)

I thought that you were arguing that if txt and Itzy weren’t popular enough to “start” the 4th gen exo couldn’t have started the 3rd. That you were comparing their success/impact. Which is why I pointed out the difference in exo’s career compared to theirs.
