5th Gen…

They are doing great but calling the songs "cultural resets" is an exaggeration.

I think we are still in 4th gen. But we may meet 5th gen soon. Considering most of us consider 2018 as the start of 4th gen. It has been 4 years.

Unironically, I think the 5th gen is right around the corner. Might have even started yet. My reasoning:

- the immediate success of IVE and Kep1er within a few weeks;

- the upcoming debuts of top agencies' new groups (NMIXX, hybegg, yggg);

- the end of the covid19 crisis and the lift of most restrictions which impacted a lot of 4th gen groups who never had a chance to perform in front of a live audience.

If K-Media start to label these groups as 5th gen, I will follow because it makes sense to me. The world runs faster and faster, the global health crisis turned a lot of things upside down too, so I don't mind that 4th gen lasted 4 years only. No one said a kpop generation had to last a specific amount of years anyway.
