I Have An Apology To Make

  • Hello! I know this may come as a bit of a surprise to a lot of you, because what would I have to apologize for? Well, I was having a conversation with someone on here (I have no idea if they're comfortable saying who they are, so I'll leave them anonymous for now, but if they wish to reveal themselves, as I suspect they know who they are, that is fine). One thing they mentioned is that it gets annoying when people constantly mention their faves when it is not needed to know or draw comparisons between their fave and another idol unprompted or use their fave as an example to prove their point. They did not direct this towards me in any way, and instead pointed it out as a general thing. Of course I heard that sentiment many times before, but it wasn't until just now that I stepped back and reflected on myself.

When I reflected on myself, I came to the realization that I did that when I very first joined on here. A lot. Probably to the point where it began to be annoying for some people. While I do not know for sure, I suspect that when I first joined, I got so excited and happy that I got carried away and did not realize my actions, which were completely unnecessary by the way. If you take one look at my name, profile picture, emblem, signature or guild badge, it's pretty obvious who my faves and biases are, so bringing them up constantly must be like beating an old horse. Instead, I will work on mentioning them more sparingly and bringing up other groups, not just them. I am a part of the guild so I can just talk about my Bang Chan ranting faves there, where it probably won't be quite as annoying to them. Once again, I am sorry if I have ever annoyed any of you with this behavior of mine and I will actively work to improve it.

Important Side Note: The person I was talking to did not bring up that I used to do this a lot (or they didn't know, who knows?), nor did they ask me to apologize. In fact, no one did. I am solely apologizing because I felt guilty and thought this was the right thing to do. Also, if you do not accept my apology, I completely understand. You do not have to in any way. Have a great day/night!

  • no

its always nice talking to you

i dont know who you talked to, but the sentiment was not directed at you

there are some people who behave a certain way but you dont do that, you are respectful to every group ^^

No, they made it very clear they weren't talking about me, they were talking about in general, I just realized it applied to me too. It's always nice talking to you too. Thank you! I try my best to be. Have a great day/night!

  • You have every right to be excited about your faves and it's normal if you want to hype them and talk about them a lot, I don't see the problem with that. Unless you were doing it "a la icyruios" i.e posting MVs of your fave in every thread, then yes I would find that annoying but I don't remember you doing that so I am sure it was fine :-)

Maybe not quite every thread, but definitely a handful (usually when the OP asked for song recommendations or suggestions though).

  • you are one of the nicest posters around and my post was definitely not directed at you. i am sorry if my post made you self conscious or feel guilty, you really have nothing to feel sorry about <3

I know and I never believed it was directed at me. Your post did not do that at all, please don't feel bad about it. Thank you! No, you're nicer to talk to! Have a great day/night!

  • Just wanted to add something. Imo using one's faves as an exemple to prove a point actually makes sense because obvioulsy you know more about your faves than other group so it's normal to use them as an exemple.

For instance, there was this situation where Ripia made a comment I disagreed with about bg songs being all received the same by the fandom (who eats everything blablabla). I made my point using BTS streams as an example because I know more about their streams than other groups so it's simply more practical to use them. So really, I don't see the problem with that.

I actually wholeheartedly agree with this. I even mentioned it in the conversation with this person. I am fine with the examples/comparisons if it is relevant and done sparingly, not if it is done all the time and when there is barely any connection. Yeah, I remember Ripia saying that. Fun fact: Thunderous was not my cup of tea and I know some people didn't enjoy it. That alone proves how silly that line of thinking is. I don't think that was a problem at all and that is the perfect example of how to mention your faves (in this case BTS) in a way that makes sense since it was relevant to the argument. Have a great day/night!
