Unpopular Opinions :- Harry Potter Saga (Movies)

  • she made some points (some of which were valid but got misconstrued) that got tons of ppl angry af at her.

so she's kinda cancelled, but honestly she doesn't suck or anything

sorta cancelled meaning some people are cancelling her and others are defending her lol

    like every other "cancellation"

These topics are very sensitive tbh.... Any sentence can be taken out of context...

The backlash she got was unlike anything I've seen....

  • (i will only talk about the books becaus the movies are like not as good idk wtv)

there goes my 1 unpopular opinion

    > I don't consider the movies at all! (I do however embrace some movies unique characters appearances/looks, because the actors did a good job the adult / older cast KILLED IT)

ah I am sure some points I have talked in other thread but yeah it is a fun franchise

    > Ginny x Harry is actually good (not so unpopular if you forget the movie?)

    > ... But Lucius and Narcissa are the best canon couple

    > Draco is literally the least interesting Malfoy

    > The Weasley family is messy

    > Fleur Delacour is in canon the prettiest character but idk I prefer Bellatrix and Narcissa's beauty (maybe because of their personality)

    > I don't think Snape as a victim at all! but I don't think we should call 1 person vs 3+ as "rival" it was bullying, it was clearly bullying lol he almost died james and sirius are jerks imho tho I know they wouldn't do it as adults etc etc

    > ... But I love Snape for the gray character he is. He is between the best characters

    > Draco was a spoiled brat, I don't hate him but let's be real this boy never was abused ok? lol (his parents might be bigots and all but hell did they loved Draco?!) for Draco fans just embrace as he was, since he changed now as adult its okay if being a "nice" character is a must idk

    > Ron is the least annoying from the golden trio and the best popular Weasley

    > Hermione is certainly between the worst characters

    > She is also not a genius, she is just booksmart someone like Snape is more of a genius

    > Cho Chang should have been the most present ravenclaw in the series she is way more interesting than Luna

    > Neville is just annoying but I guess he is like Harry we can sympathize at least a little

    > Bellatrix's death was forced

    > Sirius is a jerk (not as much as teen Sirius ofc)

    > Lupin is a coward (ok I was too harsh on him now lmao sorry but I don't respect him very much it must be something more personal? maybe i dont vibe w his character at all)

    > The Weasley twins are just obnoxious and aint funny

    > Voldemort (Tom Riddle) have an interesting background and is a good villain (but the movies cutted his past a lot lmaoo)

    > All the endgame pairings made sense

    > If JK Rowling said its canon then its canon, its her universe

  • Agreed. Snape is amazing.

  • There was another thread about unpopular HP opinions and I wrote a thesis in it lol.

A big part of it was about that Grindelwald scene. It pisses me off, you have no idea. It was incredibly insulting to Grindelwald and misleading. He literally did the opposite of what the movie painted. He MOCKED Voldemort and put him in his place, and highlighted the fact Voldemort wasn't as intelligent as he thought and let his arrogance blind him to his own ignorance which ultimately led to his downfall (his complete ignorance of the deadly hallows, his thinking that only him knew about the room of requirements, his disregard to the power of magical creatures etc)

Heck, even Harry knew that Dumbledore had the elder Wand before Voldemort did even though both had pretty much the same hints, which leads me to one of my other big issues with the movies, and that's the way Harry was dumbed down, especially during the hunt for the horcruxes. The movies made it look like almost everything was handed to him on a silver platter, Luna suggested talking with Helena Ravenclaw and then Helena told him that he tiara was in the room of requirements. But in the book, Harry thought about seeking Helena out and asking her on his own, Helena only confirmed that she gave the tiara to Voldemort but Harry concluded on his own that it was in the room of requirements (because he saw through their connection that Voldemort said he hid it in a place inside the castle that he thought no one else knew about).

What the movie did was a disservice to Harry and his intelligence and tenacity.

And don't get me started on the watered down urgency and need for secrecy lmao. Imagine Book 6 Harry going out alone for coffee in muggle London :cryingr:

Or that ridiculous, RIDICULOUS scene of burning the Burrow down, like FOR GOD'S SAKE if it were that easy to find the Burrow then Voldemort would have walked up there himself and AKed Harry as soon as he got his body back. But the Burrow was one of the most secure places in the widzarding world because no one knew where it was except for people the Weasley's trusted. That's why as soon as the ministry fell in Book 7, Shaklebolt sent a patronus to warn them because he and they knew that the first thing death eaters would do after controlling the ministry was getting the Burrow's address and that's literally what happened.

You said in your op that you preferred the movie's version of Voldemort's death but it's the contrary for me. The movie elevated him into some omnipresent being or something which was the opposite of the book's highlighting of his humanness. I liked it better when we were told that Voldemort was just a man who turned evil and then died as a man, just Tom.

And finally, the Marauders' erasure was simply painful.

  • All the HP movies David Yates directed suck (so from HP 5 on) :pepepizza:

I still enjoy them but it could have been MUCH better

Order of Phoenix is still somehow good but I can't even explain with words how disappointed I was with Half Blood Prince

About Deathly Hallows - even tthough they had 2 whole movies they still managed to omitt super important things!! And I always feel an urge to flip tables when I see Harry breaking the elder wand without reparing his own wand :angryr:

If you don't read the books, the movies will make very little sense to you imho

  • The problem with that is if they made the fight simple and "human" like the book... So many people would have been disappointed.. They have been waiting years for Voldy and Harry to have a fight.... So I can see why they chose not to have a "simple" fight.

    I love Pikachu.

    Always have, Always will.
