How do you decide what Drama to watch?

i use mydramalist and any drama I am interested in (it might be the genre, plot, cast, writer, or director of the drama that interests me) I add them to my plan to watch list. if the plot is really interesting, I set the priority of the drama to high.

then if I have free time, I go to my plan to watch list, and depending on my mood (some days I am in the mood for romance, action, thriller) I pick a drama to watch. If I can narrow my choice down to like three, I check the reviews then I watch the one with the best review.

If the synopsis are to vague and there isn't any of my fav actor in the drama, I check the ratings

Do you have any restrictions on the year it came out?

I usually try to avoid kdrama/movies before 2010 but I have like 20 dramas and movies from before 2010 on my plan to watch list. Those dramas and movies are the legendary/popular ones.

I chose based on:

- description

- genre

- reviews (if there are any, but I mostly do this with anime)

- sometimes actors (like if there are actors I dont like, I wont watch it)

- gut feeling

I have been watching Kdramas for 10 years now so it's a lot. If you go to the completed section I have 333 dramas/movies there.

I go for genre. I like thriller/horror/mystery/supernatural drama so I just go by what netflix recommends based on the genre!

If it has good reviews, an actor or actress I like, or if the story is interesting I might consider watching it.

PS: Bonus points if any EXO member stars in it. Then the chances of me watching that drama go higher.

Do you choose based on positive reviews? Popularity? The main actor or actress? Or do you only watch a specific genre?

So far I have restricted myself to High School dramas from 06 to 15 (also known as my favorite time period of kpop).

My mood will determine the genre, and from there I skim synopsis + a few reviews to see if I'd like it. Usually I'm up for romantic comedies or thrillers and mysteries. I also use mydramalist to help me.

I don't know I just say I'm going to watch this drama. I really don't have a list.

I usually watch crime/thriller/suspense/horror one but for me the rating should be above 8 on mydramalist, but sometimes i just watch rom coms for the hot leads and chemistry though the rating is like in the range of 7 to 8. Also sometimes i just watch slice of life when i just want to relax.

Mostly I choose based on the genre, this year I was totally into crime/mystery/horror dramas and I avoided the romantic ones, bleah. If I finish them and there is nothing new, I watch dramas where my fav actors are playing, but if it's not my cup of tea, I will drop it. Also, I avoid dramas released before 2015, so maybe the year plays a role too, I find them too forced and.... damn, I can't stand that mushroom haircut, how could it be so popular?

Popularity is not so important, but I sometimes check a drama if it's mentioned several times, like Penthouse, Squid Game, Sky Castle, etc.
