I started playing pokèmon in 2010, the first game I have played was a spin-off called "Pokemon Mystery Doungeon expolorers of time", it is still one of my favourite games. The next yea, pokemon Black&White were released, and from them all I bought every pokemon DS (and 3DS) game. I know pokemon mystery dungeon but I have the emulator for the gba version and played that to death lol

I'm old school especially the first and second gens less of the 3rd and 4th and by the time the fifth gen came around I was like there's too many of them lol

I played the original red and blue versions on both of the original gameboys specifically so I could "catch them all"

my friend gave me a mew from an event overseas and I managed to catch all 151 original pokemon 20 min before a problem with the cables when I was battling or trading a pokemon to a friend and that data got WIPED!!!!!

still sad about it to this day

I also played the TCG as well and watched like few hundred episodes of the cartoons

I've you guys are shamelessly plugging pokemon games you played, I'm just gonna do it too!

I started with Red when it came out, but I never got Mew, so only 150 for me My starter was Charmander ofc

Later I tried playing Silver or Gold, but after a short while I thought.. mehh Pokemon is not for me anymore so I stopped (that ridiciouls phase where you consider yourself too cool for a lot of things all of a sudden )

Years later, has to be past 2006 now, I gave Ruby a chance and I was blown away by it. I was confused what made me believe Pokemon is not for me anymore and really loved the game, probably even more than red back then.

From then on there was no going back, I've played at least one version of all the main games up until the 3ds area (so no Y/X or later games so far), but that is because I don't own the systems and emulators were strong enough yet for 3ds and switch.

Addtionally I played an innumerable amount of Rom Hacks or Fangames.. (meaning fully fan created games based on either the orignal game engine or RPK Maker engine). I think a really popular one was Pokemon Uranium when it came out. May playtime in those fangames dwarfs the one I put in completing all the main series games easily... I would be really surprised if there are too many people on this planet that played more pokemon than me in their lifes the last one I played was Pokemon Empyrean earlier this year.
