  • Not good music but appealing music, it could be cute, badass, sexy or any other concept but it just needs to be appealing, something we want to hear because it's catchy and refreshing and something that isn't boring

Also charming members. Top visuals or talent isn't necessary, the girls mostly need to have charms to capture attention from the viewers

  • No order

appeal to public. That includes concept and music. That means 1 of 2 things; either doing whatever is in trend or sticking to what you’re known for. Very few ggs can pull of having multiple cbs with public support so it’s best to cater to what the public likes about each particular group. Music doesn’t have to be good, just whatever the fits.

    Visual. Self explanatory.

Not exactly individual presence but at least a member who is a Stan attractor. the one that everyone talks about, even casual fans. Doesn’t have to have a particular reason either as it can be anything from looks to certain charms.

  • Appeal to general public for sure: their music, concept and members have to be appealing

I’ve also noticed with gg hits they often have a trendy point dance.

Like this year the biggest gg songs were rollin (sting ray dance), next level (bent hand), asap which has the chorus ‘punching the air’ thing for lack of better description.

After that it’s probably good/catchy music and a certain amount of luck

  • These factors help:

Company/Luck - If you have company backing, then no luck is needed. If you don't then luck. Luck includes controversy, becoming a meme, etc.

Visual - It isn't enough to just be good looking, most idols are good looking, you don't really have bad looking idols.. I'm talking S tier visuals with a memorable face. Every group tries to throw one in as the staple just for that purpose then try to give them the traits/skills to make the position work.

Personality - This ties in with visuals. Kpop fans don't just care for your looks, you have to have a personality to go with it. Half the fun in kpop is things idols do, things idols say, memes, etc. There are all the results of the personality they choose to show you.

Success - It sounds silly, the question is what is needed to be successful and you need success to be successful? I think there are a lot of success stans and people want to stan top groups. But you also have the issue of uncertainty and resources of smaller groups. Stanning is a commitment and not everyone is willing to commit to a group who may have 1 release and then never comeback again (this also ties in with company, you can almost be certain groups from Big3 will be around)

These factors won't help but will hurt if it's not at least on an acceptable level.

Music - Plenty of groups have very good music but you don't see them skyrocket in popularity. However, if you have bad music then there's no chance obviously.

Skills/Talent - Same as music pretty much. Having excessive talent won't help extra but if you don't have enough, it will hurt.

Hard work - You can work the hardest and you still won't make it to the top. However, if you don't work hard, then you certainly wont make it.

To be honest, I really want to emphasize how much luck/company comes into play. People will mention things like good music, great personalities, hard work, content, etc. butthere really isn't any group that doesn't work hard, doesn't look good, have great music, etc. Unless something causes you to look deeper into the group, you really won't put the effort to discover their b-sides, personalities, how hard they work, and such.
