If she is racist, I doubt that she, as an idol and a public figure who’s supposed to have a clean image, would intentionally reveal herself as such.
This seems more like a case of internalized colorism and self-hate, hence the fact that she’s Southeast Asian and used to have darker skin. It’s likely she dealt with colorism directed towards her and internalized that. It’s very common for Southeast Asian folks to be scrutinized for their darker skin, decide to become lighter through whatever means, and see everyone who’s darker-skinned as “ugly.” Sadly, that’s how colorism works and, yes, it makes darker-skinned folks see themselves and other darker-skinned folks as “unattractive.”
I don’t really like talking about these issues here, but since this topic about Sorn keeps arising, I think it’s important to give my two cents on it as it’s something that hits close to home for me.
