People really think Justin and Selena still have something for each other despite the fact that they were KIDS when they were dating. The delusion is real. Those two are grown adults now with their own lives. I promise they're not thinking about each other and not every song they make is about each other.
Another reason is that people always hold celebrities to such a high standard. They think whoever Justin is with has to be on the same level as him in fame and fortune. It's a misogynistic and toxic way of thinking.
