It's a pretty clever movie, in the sense it does a good job at concealing its very tight budget. It mostly relies on its high concept (a bunch of strangers waking up in a cube-shaped structure, with no other goals than the desire to escape and avoid the Cube's deadly traps). The few digital effects have aged quite badly of course (it's a 1996 movie) but it's still a fascinating concept. I think it deserves a watch. I wouldn't recommened the sequels though.
