From my understanding, because they want to wear them for fashion without understanding the issues that people whose hairstyles those are face. For example, black hair works the best for locs and other races don't have the same hair texture for it, but also when they wear it they don't face the same discrimination black people do. It's their traditional hairstyles but a lot of workplaces don't acknowledge that and don't allow it and ask their employees to cut their hair which took them years to grow out. And so on. You can learn more about it by looking it up.

Though, I doubt most people know or understand certain groups of people are not okay with them wearing those hairstyles and why.

I'm also surprised by that, maybe someone who is concerned will answer it.. because I have no problem if someone uses my culture's clothes in a good way

I think it's okay since dreads is not exclusive to just one ethnicity.

Nobody owns hairstyles so everyone can do what they want with their hair. Daa

Beyond the cultural significance and using it as an aesthetic, some braids and dreads aren't even good for their hair, for my hair too. They are made for a type of hair and there's a history behind them.

I don't feel like I'm competent to talk a lot about it so I will end there.
