Korean netizens showing no empathy towards Lizzy after her live in which she apologized for her DUI and talked about considering TW suicide

I've seen clips from her live and although it doesn't fix what she did, she seemed sincerely apologetic and also really not in the right mind. She was falling apart and kept apologizing and said that so many people told her she should kill herself that she started considering it for real. Then when she finally calmed down a little, somebody wrote that the world would be a better place without her or something along those lines and she broke down again.

I get how it would seem like she was throwing herself a pity party for sympathy and maybe to an extent she did (I side eyed her when she said that she was upset by articles stating that she could've killed somebody - sis, you could've, and the articles are not what you should've been upset about, the fact that you could've harmed somebody is what you should've been upset about) but throwing more hate at somebody who is falling apart solves nothing.

I wonder where people in her life were at the time. She shouldn't have done that live to begin with.

  • I wonder what people in her life have to do the with the situation. Last time I checked she's an adult responsible for her actions.

I mean at the time of her live, not DUI. She was clearly super unwell and was going on an off of life and I just wish somebody stopped her. It's true, she's the only one responsible for her actions for sure, but when people care for you they stop you from doing a live when you're going through an episode at least.

I'm not saying people should not criticize her or hold her accountable, I'm saying people should not be telling her to kill herself and that the world would be a better place without her.

Yeah, I know but my answer is still the same. I've seen so many similar comments about people around Kwon Mina too and tbh this kind of comments bother me a bit. The thing is we have no idea whether people around them tried to help or not. Irl I know so many people who had all the support they could possibly wish for and still ignored it and did bad stuff to themselves and to their surrounding regardless. So I don't think we should judge people we don't know at all just because somebody close to them is set on self destruct ... Ofc there're many situations when family and friends could have helped but didn't. Anything is possible but my point is, if we don't know anything about those people, we shouldn't judge.

I'm not saying people should not criticize her or hold her accountable, I'm saying people should not be telling her to kill herself and that the world would be a better place without her.

And I agree with this 100%

  • What was in her case alcohol or drugs?

You can tell that it's alcohol by the way nobody's calling her a 'druggie' in the comments or whatever else knetz use to describe addicts. Her blood alcohol concentration levels were recorded as sufficient for license revocation.

What's sort of making it even worse (and thank God nobody was hurt by her actions and she didn't harm somebody while under the influence) is that she publicly spoke out against driving under the influence before so now she not only committed a serious offense, she's also a hypocrite.

    Quote

"If you see someone driving drunk, call 112 to prevent car accidents. It's 20,000 Won ($17.70 USD) for a driver, but how many tens of thousands of Won will it cost if you drink and drive? It's pathetic to waste your precious life, and I hate that it causes trouble and harms others."

  • The way this people react is sad do they think idols are perfect and they have no room for mistakes ?

DUIs are not just some plain mistake. I can’t understand how someone with enough money for a cab (especially with the plain amount of cabs in SK) drives under the influence and literally says in the insta live “people act as if I killed someone“. It’s not just a mistake, it is a fellony and I lost a family member because of a drunk driver, so no mercy for such people. I think people wishing her death are stupid but no one will suddenly feel sympathy when South Korea has a big problem with DUIs

  • Of course she was wrong for what she did (and she seemed very sincere in her apology), but situations like this really go to show that Netz don’t give a fuck about safety or ones well being

You’re idea of advocating against a situation where someone could’ve been harmed or killed…. Is to tell someone to kill themselves?

While yeah bystanders could’ve been harmed in that situation, so could she

These people don’t care about the fact that someone in that situation could’ve been harmed. They just wait for public figures to do one fuck up to justify being an absolute devilish asshole towards them

  • There's DUI and there's the speed at which you're driving by. One can drive under the influence of alcohol or something, yet being "careful" enough not to drive at a madman's speed. Careless driving is not restricted to DUI, there's a ton of drivers who cause accidents for the mere reason they want to get an adrenaline rush and/or show off their "driving skills".

I don't know all the circumstances of the accident she got involved in, but I think it's unreasonable to put all road victims' deaths on her conscience when she actually didn't kill anyone, and not even really harmed anyone if I understood correctly.

People say she must be held accountable; of course she must. By the police. And it already happened. Her driving license was revoked, right? So here you go, consequences there are. No need to make her feel more miserable than she already is.

Yeah it's something serious but it's a mistake and we can tell she regret it and people are telling her to kill herself and that's wrong

  • The second you go out to drink with the intention to drive yourself home afterwards you are willingly both putting your life in danger and the lives of anyone who crosses your path on the road. That is not a simple mistake like a sober accident. So no I don't have sympathy for her. Especially not in the way she defended herself in that video. However sending someone death threats helps no one at all. She shouldn't have said this but that doesn't give people an excuse to threaten her
